That yellow is FUGLY! Gimme Blue or Red. But I'm stuck with the Matt Finish which I'd gladly trade tanks for the new Blue or Red.

Washed my matte gray yesterday and noticed multiple scratches. Compared to my Chrome Whore Stratoliner, the only comment I have, is Patrick when are you leading me into more EASY roads?

Disclaimer: It has to be next year when I can raise my right arm over my head without pain!

I have a 2013 matt grey World Crosser, and the grey is a bit bland on it's own, but the splash of yellow from the WC stickers is just enough to spice it up a bit.

What I'll never understand is why manufacturers limit the colour choices so much. If they do a red, yellow, black, matt grey, blue/silver paint, they could apply it to any given customer's bike. Why they segregate the colours against the country or whether it's an ES or not is beyond me. I'm positive there are people who won't splash the extra cash for an ES just because of the colour choices, which is just lost sales. Stupid artificial self-imposed restrictions that take away our choice and their profit.

It is more likely the importers rather than the factory which specify what colours get imported.

I've been told this by more than one Yamaha USA person. It is Yamaha USA who specs the bikes and who the dealers buy from, not from Yamaha in Japan.

Okay fair point, but *someone*, *somewhere* is limiting the choices. I can't see why. Are bikes not made to order like cars are these days?

Seems weird that dealers (or Yamaha's branch in any one country) would specify what colours they want in rather than offering customers the choice.

I don't understand why a FJ09 is $10.5K and a S10 is $15.5K when they have basically the same setup?
S10 has shaft drive but that's about it.
Haven't ridden a FJ09 but I'd bet that engine performs better.
Sorry, they are very far from each other. I own both. Had the tenere for years, and just aquired the FJ, but did own a FZ09 for a short while.

ST has:
better ABS, which is linked.
The spoked wheels cost more than cast.
The shaft is more pricy than a chain.
Front forks are fully adjustable (comp, reb, preload) but with horrible stock valving, and progressive springs, instead of linear ::010::
Rear shock has hydraulic preload, and rebound, again no comp ::010::
The TC is more advanced (two setting)
The screen is adjustable for height and pitch...no wait, it' preset for height only on 2014 and up... scratch that
the motor is overbuilt and understressed IMO
It has more steel in it, which always cost more ::025::
The ST is the do it all bike. If I had to only have one, this would be it.

the FJ has basic abs, and on off tc.
Basic suspension (front preload, and reb only ::009:: rear preload via c-spanner, and rebound). I've since ripped out fork internals and replaced with traxxion cartridges. Yacugar rear shock in the mail with a hydraulic preload ::014::
chain drive
Plastics feel cheaper, than the tenere, and it's not as well put together.
Maintenace will be a chore as well, as the plastics, are not as easy to remove, as the ST. Luckily valves are every 40km.
That said, it's a well priced street bike, scratcher, and hooligan bike. And with bag mounts and excellent choice for a low weight sport tourer.
