The Super Ten is a very slow seller here as well. My dealer is perplexed by this, since he knows what a great bike this is. Mine was an orphan child for quite a while in 2012 and early 2013 until I picked it up in July 2013. I hope that Yamaha will keep the faith and continue producing the ST, but business is business, so I hope the numbers will justify its continued existence.

Bruce
Bruce, I don't see Yami discontinuing the ST. Simple fact that they upgraded the niggles, and issues is an excellent sign. They are going full steam ahead with road bikes, but because the big traile market, they would be foolish to abandon it. Besides, I know a guy that can buy his Yamaha's directly from Yamaha...they are insanely cheap. Probably 30% msrp..if not more.

The biggest failure on Yamaha's part is advertising. They had one lonely ST at the bike show. No display no brochures, nothing. Why not put in a few well used, and equipped ST's in the show. Hell bring a fully specced world crosser for the shows only.

For the time being, it only grabs the people that are not lemmings. Sorry, I went to my local BMW dealer with a buddy that was looking at the new WC GS ADV. $28 grand OTD. The standard wc GS is $24 grand OTD. Sorry, but I'll take an ES, put $1500-2000 of accessories into it, and in the end have a more reliable bike, maybe down 10-15 hp, but i'll be $8000 ahead, without fear of breaking down.
Yes BMW makes some good bikes, but it's all about the badge. I've worked on a buddy's wife's new gs700. It's crap. Everything is paper thin. Forks are non adjustable, but hey...it cost $13500 cdn, and it's a BMW. She says the alarm they sold them with the bike is utterly usless. It doesn't work. They simply don't use it.
I installed some mitas tires on her bike. Because the overall diameter is slightly bigger than the oem wheels (they recommend only using bridgestones that were meant for the gs700)
her traction control became super sensitive. Again, she simply turned it off, and doesn't use it.

Even non biking types (my moronic manager comes to mind) when he saw my bike, he asked me if it's better than the BM?
I asked him in what aspect? and he couldn't answer it. He's very worried about image. That's why his audi a4 is better than my golf wagon tdi, even though they are the same god damn car.
::009:: over.

so much reasoning Greg.
And reasonable reasoning, at that.

It's a pleasure to read posts like that. For me, anyways.

Thanks Snake. it sums it up for me. Image is everything to most people.
Then again, I'd rather avoid the image of being broken down in the middle of nowhere :D
