(2) NEW 2013 ST's for sale

While my '12 is at the shop today I was chatting to the Owner about my bike when he mentione he was getting 2 2013's for sale cheap. He said he tried to get 6 bikes from Yamaha but they would only give him these 2, - New 2013 Tenere's for sale, 1 in Grey and 1 in White. They are selling for $8998. Wish I had a need for a 2nd one in the Garage, be nice to have a White one to go with my Raven. This is a great price for a brand new bike.

That is a killer del on one of the best ADV tourers and all around bikes on the road! I love my '13, and for that price you could buy the bike and a TON of goodies for less than a '14 model, much less a '15.

I feel for you. Mainland China is similar. A new S10 here in the middle kngdo0m is approx US$40K.
I have been trying to import my Australian S10 for a few years only to finally be denied, told the bike (2011) is too old, and that it must be brand new, with zero miles. I was willing to pay the 100% taxes and import duties on the Chinese Customs imposed MSRP as they determined it. I went out two months ago and bought a brand new G650GS (US destined model with heated grips, centre stand and wire wheels) here in China (makes number five bike in my garage here in China). Cost of the 650GS... ~US19K. Guess I could buy three for that money in the US of A.
Bikes imported from anywhere else with the exception of ASEAN member countries (Japan is not part of ASEAN) attract 100% duty/taxes of China Customs determined value.
With Thailand and India part of the ASEAN collective, Kawasaki, Honda, BMW, KTM are finding ways to penetrate the middle kingdo0m market at a more favourable 35-40% duty added - thankfully...

I was there a few weeks ago, they seemed kinda light on yamaha's. I wanted to buy mine from there, but they wouldn't budge from MSRP.
Ended up going somewhere else.

These 2013's are a good deal but I was going to upgrade from my 2012 and could find a good deal on a 2014 ES I would do it.

Plus shipping to Washington ($500?), import fees ($220), then another 12% Canadian taxes on top ($1300). A total of $13, 020. Add another grand for insurance.. Still, I suppose this is likely many thousands of dollars cheaper than buying a new one up here.

I think if I'm going to pay that much, i will hold out for a 2014.

At the current xchge rate that 2013 will cost you closer to $11100CDN. Shipping from PA will be 700 CDN. The RIV fee is $220. and the US Customs export rules have changed so you will need to employ a customs broker. So you are now at $12020 CDN plus the broker fee. You have a new but naked 2013. Better add another 1500 to $2000 for panniers and heated grips.

You can whine all you want about the xchge rate but it will probably get worse before it gets better.

They are light on inventory on most everything except BMW is seems. They tried to get 6 of the 2013 Tenere's but Yamaha would only let them have 2, seems wacky to me, tough to sell bikes if you can't get them in the store to sell. According to the owner, apparently the manufacturer's give inventory to brand specific stores first, and with Montgomeryville selling multiple brands it is tough for them to get a lot of specific models without trading other dealers for them.

I'd like to have the White one but am very happy with my Raven bike. It a deal were available on the new ES model in White I would consider it but will stick with what I have for now.

There can't be much of a profit margin for Yamaha or the dealer at those price points.
Dealers here in SW Florida can't sell them and don't stock them. Barney's in St. Petersburg still has a new 2012 on the floor.
Anyone else wondering about the future of the ST in Yamaha's product line?

I'm actually thankful...no offense. Too many years of getting hosed in other countries. I missed the days of the strong dollar back in 84-85. It's about time.

The Super Ten is a very slow seller here as well. My dealer is perplexed by this, since he knows what a great bike this is. Mine was an orphan child for quite a while in 2012 and early 2013 until I picked it up in July 2013. I hope that Yamaha will keep the faith and continue producing the ST, but business is business, so I hope the numbers will justify its continued existence.

don't forget broker fee, which is now necessary. Roughly $100. But wit our dollar being worth 80% of the US dollar it makes no sense.
Seems like the local CAnadian guys are smartening up. A 2014 ES was $15 OTD in Calgary
