2014 Super Tenere ES
Hi SkunkWorks, have you mounted the 140 yet? The idea of getting another "classic" E-07 appeals to me
Not yet. Probably in about a month or so?Hi SkunkWorks, have you mounted the 140 yet? The idea of getting another "classic" E-07 appeals to me
Thank you Chris.Hi there Alan, I wish you the best of luck in your health.
You would have an aneurism if you saw some of my bikes. I've been known to build motors that make more power than stock, put different size wheels on, and even screw with frame geometry.I don’t get it!
A manufacturer builds a machine, be it a car or a motorcycle, tests the machine and fits the appropriate tyres for the use of that machine and yet people want to fit non-standard size, non-approved tyres which can affect your road worthiness and insurance and ultimately your safety.
Why, after spending a considerable amount of money on your vehicle of choice would you compromise yourself? Just to save a few £s/$s/€s!
The first listing link for a single rear tire is an image of the tire, not a picture that has been photoshoped. The second listing link for a pair shows a picture. Mitas does sell the E07+ Dakar, even though they do not specifically show it on their web site. I've seen these in person in the past.Hi there Eric, There is no such thing as the E07+ in the Dakar version. The Ebay link is a photoshop pic.
The Mission looks like a great choice.Wore out a set of the old Mitas Dakar’s and was pretty well satisfied with the performance and the 10,000 mile life.
The reported much shorter life of the redesigned Mitas makes me think I might try the Dunlop Mission next time instead, about $280 for a set and supposedly free mounting.
Thanks for the correction/clarification.The first listing link for a single rear tire is an image of the tire, not a picture that has been photoshoped. No, no review from me on Karoo 3's. That's not a tire I have tried. Looks interesting, but I think the price in our sizes always kept me away. Thanks for the correction/clarification.
Did I see a review somewhere you did on Metzler Karoo 3’s?
Also... emailed Mitas, got a response and responded back. I’ll post up when I hear back.
Some other Eric V. I always capitalize the V and would not characterize myself as an aggressive rider. I've run Kenda Big Blocks, (mostly for off pavement), PR4 Trails, Pirelli Angel GTs, lots of Heidenau K60s, Mitas E07 Dakar (original version), Anakee 3s, the OEM Bridgestones and the OEM ones that came on my '12 that sucked in the wet, (forgotten what version they were). I think that's about it on the S10."No, no review from me on Karoo 3's. That's not a tire I have tried. Looks interesting, but I think the price in our sizes always kept me away."
From Revzilla, must be a coincidence?
2nd Set
At first I thought the tread went out quickly on the back tire. I do ride fairly aggressively. I have taken this guys through deep mud & dirt. They are super solid tires ~

I have one on the way.Ressurecting this thread...
Sounds like no one has tried the 140/80.
If Mitas doesn't start making the rear E07 Dakar in the Tenere size (probably unlikely, unfortunately), I'm trying the 140/80. Per the tire calculator link posted in an earlier thread, the difference is about 1/2" in diameter and less than 1/2" in width (the 140/80 being taller and narrower). TO ME, the difference is negligible. Heck, one may find these discrepancies in different brands, styles of tires and during wear. I'm on knobbies now and find the off-road advantages are slim if even noticeable (the Tenere is not a motocross bike). I tried the new E07+, while ok it just isn't like the old version as a great "all-around" tire. I'll likely make the move this spring.
