Question for those guys with Gen 2 bikes... Are you cutting the trim piece that's right under the headlight or removing it completely? I removed mine, but I've read that it was added to the bike in the Gen2 to reduce buffeting, not just for aesthetics. Considering trimming it and installing it behind the light.

I removed that spoiler and mounted to those holes. Wired to aux light plug with Yamaha plug from Eastern Beaver. 8" led, it will touch the fender at full travel of front suspension. Don't ask how I figured that out.

You have a part# for that Yamaha harness? I was going to wire mine a different way but this sounds perfect.

I'm installing these this weekend. Plus adding the mini fuse block.
20 watt x 2. Going to tie a relay to the high beam circuit so they come on when switching on the high beams

Wanted to thank y'all for the info on this light bar. I ordered the 8" bar and 2 driving lights. I'll be wiring those up thru a Skene and a 2 position switch, so I'll have 2 brightness options on low beam plus full power on high beam.

I didn't want to remove the plastic "nose" to mount the bar. And while I have a Dremel and the wherewithal to trim some off the bracket I was just too lazy to do that. So, off to Lowe's. Found exactly what I had in mind; spacers. Combined with a slightly longer bolt and the light mounts right up without removing the plastic nose or trimming the bracket. Will do the wiring in the next day or two, but wanted to share this mounting option for those wanting a bolt-up option.

Hey slakdawg, thanks for posting this. Have you done any dirt and/or bumpy road riding with this setup? I am wondering how well the spacers will withstand the light bouncing. Also wonder if it will cause visible bouncing of the beam.

Not yet. Still not wired up. I just got the mount stuff together last night and checked the fit. I've been playing around with my wiring diagram a bit as I'm planning to add a few items. I'll be installing these lights with Skene controller, a Stebel airhorn, and PDM60 for circuit control. Crossing fingers to finish up before this weekend. I'll be heading to the NC mountains and will carry a photog on the back following a 70-mile bicycle race that will cover gravel service roads and paved roads. That will be a good test of the setup, however, this is a daytime race so I won't get the full effect of any bounce as with in the dark. Although it did feel tight and secure tugging on it. I'll report back after I get some experience with this setup.

Well, light mount seems to still be solid. I put ~450 miles on the bike this weekend. About 100 of that was gravel service roads with lots of stutter bumps. Didn't get to try it at night in those conditions, but got about 40 miles after dark on the ride home. Light is great although didn't get to use high beams too much, since a lot of traffic. I like the color, really illuminates signs down the road. At this point, I'm very happy with this setup.

Posting a almost 3,000 mile follow-up since mounting the light bar using those spacers. No cutting of brackets necessary. These miles include lots of rough service roads and several creek crossing. Everything is as snug as the day I mounted it up. Definite improvement in night time riding. Highly recommend ::008::
