Any CO Gen-III FJR Riders Interested in the Ténéré?

I have both and although the S10 can go to more places and do more things, the FJR is just so smooth and torquey. I mean you lay on the throttle in Sport mode and it's all smiles,it is a well polished bike, all it needed was a new seat and risers to make it very comfy. The S10 needs to be...

    Choosing between a BMW GS(A) and a Super T....

I think I could have been a bit more descriptive. I meant to say that the Bmw is a well rounded and refined machine. Yamaha is well built but I think still needs a bit more time to really become the polished machine the gsa has become. Gen 2 is almost there but I think it needs a little more...

    Top End Ticking

Thanks for the info. I got some flat black rattlecan rustoleum, but that doesn't look right, what brand did you use? They're the AltRider bars. TBH, it was ticking louder when i first started it after picking it up, but now it seems back to normal. I'll get some semigloss next time I head out...

    Top End Ticking

So this starts with me tipping the bike over when riding. I was turning left following a car when the woman in front of me jammed on her brakes mid turn for whatever reason, I had to panic stop lost my balance, and well the bike slowly tipped over, the lean angle sensor did it's thing and cut...

    I went and got me a '14 S10.

I mean I get what you're saying but the 'Strada is a hoot to ride, if I could afford one I would have it instead of the Tenere, mostly since I'm like a 90% on-road guy.

Replacement Bolt for T50 Security Torx

I ended up keeping the bolt, and will replace it eventually when it is worn out. I'm not unbolting that item often anyway.

Aluminum raid toolbox for the Yamaha Super Tenere at ADV Motorrad!

Like I said, I dunno how you guys are getting 8" of clearance, to the caliper body: sure; but to the tallest part (the top of the bleeder) it is a bit shorter. I attached some pics of my measurements... (I do have a speed bleeder on the back, which i think is smidge taller)

Aluminum raid toolbox for the Yamaha Super Tenere at ADV Motorrad!

Thanks for the help, email sent. I set up the box per WJB and there is much more room between the box and the case. I'm not sure how y'all are getting 8" of clearance, I got 7.25 - 7.5" to the top of my bleed nipple on the rear caliper, when on the centerstand, and from what I am reading this...

Replacement Bolt for T50 Security Torx

I found this: https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-Details.aspx?product=6322 its 100mm but that's only a little bit longer? I guess you can always file it down ... only 3mm.

Aluminum raid toolbox for the Yamaha Super Tenere at ADV Motorrad!

No, I'm afraid not, the instructions showed pics of the case being bolted directly behind the head of the bolt. I am not confident that the torx bolt can do another round of 23lb/ft but it appears that this is the only solution for piece of mind.

Replacement Bolt for T50 Security Torx

Ok so I don't care for the security T50 torx found on the rear of the mounting hardware for the OEM panniers. It asks for 23lb/ft and I don't think it will take another round of torquing before it strips, so I want to change it to either a new security torx or (ideally) a new bolt altogether...

Aluminum raid toolbox for the Yamaha Super Tenere at ADV Motorrad!

Just got a black toolbox for my 14ES with an OEM luggage kit. Getting the security bolt off/on was a bit harrowing (the Home Depot Bit doesn't grab really well for a bolt that is torqued to 23lb/ft). putting it on was not terribly difficult following the directions. I tried to align the box as...

    Chicago Riders

Thanks for the tips. I've been busy farkling the FJR so not too much time for dirt roads. Clearly it seems that there isn't much around Chicago, but IA/Carbondale area is a bit too far for a day trip, but WI is a a possibility

    What Year Tenere to Buy

If you can afford it, a 2014+ is the way to go some good improvements and needed polish. In terms of ES vs regular, I like the ES for adjusting the suspension for whatever suits me at the time. I know that some folks are the "set it and forget it" types, but I find for Dual Sport, the...

2016 2 week old bike stalls

14ES happened a few times with me. The root cause for me seems to be that when first started after sitting for a day or so the clutch engages a bit too quickly and if you are expecting it to engage farther on the release it will stall. My solution is to pump the clutch a few times before...
