I've been looking for the right one for a good 6-7 weeks as I really wanted a blue one. However I didn't know if I should wait for the fall shows to see if Yamaha was coming out with a newer model. One popped up on CL, was in great shape with only 1,600 miles so I went ahead and picked her up at a really good price imo. It came with everything you see including the Touratech bash plate, Givi crash bars, Touratech seat (going to sell the seat) and Mosko soft bags. Also came with the stock tires and may put those back on, or maybe Karoo 3's. My buddy wants the bags since I'll be getting the Touratech panniers. If he doesn't buy them then I'll be selling the Mosko bags here.

So yeah it's heavy and you have to respect the weight, especially on the washboarded fire trail I took it on. But on the street and the twisties it did just fine and had a great time in the 500 miles I've ridden it. The bike feels bullet proof, really comfortable too. I've since firmed up the suspension, put the stock seat on in the high position and it rides much better than it did when I first took it out for a ride. Love the cruise control as well. So, unless Yamaha comes out with a world shaking replacement in the next few weeks I'll be putting on an Arrow full system and get the ECU flashed. That should uncork the power and let the big girl breathe. Overall it's great bike. My days of taking chances on sport bikes in the tastes are over so this bike will serve me well for what appeals to me now. Looking forward to multi-day trips and some camping off the beaten path... ::008::

Since I got back from my trip I've been riding it to work. I can't get enough of this bike. Comfortable, plenty of power, handles well and can do just about everything but gnarly single track. You may be right, I got such a good deal on the bike that it would be hard to let go of. One of the better bikes I've had.

I was at the local Ducati dealer looking at some Revit gear. I looked at the enduro Mutistrada and laughed at just how much more it cost. I got into my bike for less than half and is infinitely more reliable and likely even better off road with its low off idle lug capability. I'll be getting the Arrow full system, a flash and will have more than enough power out of this bike.

I mean I get what you're saying but the 'Strada is a hoot to ride, if I could afford one I would have it instead of the Tenere, mostly since I'm like a 90% on-road guy.

I've had two Monsters. A S4R and a S4RS. Duc twins are great but I just think that they're the wrong tool for the job with respect to ADV riding.

'most definatley. Also, if you actually take your bike on long trips or deep off road that reliability thing gets to be a bigger issue. I was out in the Badlands earlier this week and saw a cluster of Ducati's weaving thru the park. 'Looked like great fun but I couldn't help but think "if one of those has a problem, I wonder where the nearest Ducati dealer is?".
