    Alloy Rims

Eric, If you are still around please message me. I'd like to discuss this with you. I'm doing research into this conversion and would like to know where your hurdles were. I'm an ex machinist as well. I've been hunting for complete FJR wheels, brakes, axles, etc to see what would need to be...

    Oil Filters that leak

I had been using Bosch filters for the past 25k miles with no problems, until last month. I caught one leaking. The mount appears concave, as it should be, but still leaked. I was out of town when I noticed the leak. Searching WalMart, my only option where I was on a Friday evening, resulted...

Only minor issues after 130,000 abusive miles!

Paul, you are great testimonial to what the S10 can handle! At just under a year I only have 17k miles, limited due to down time from a rear wheel repair. My bike has been washed twice, not counting extended rides in the rain. Oil was changed at 600 miles, then roughly every 5k after. Final...

    Final Drive Oil Leak

Bringing up an old thread because it showed up when I searched for my issue. I, too, have a leak coming out of the rear swingarm weep hole. And yes, it is a leak, not a few drops...the whole rear final drive area is covered with oil. The bike is less than a year old, just under 17k miles, and...

    Be honest about the spokes….

Check out my thread for details, but at around 14,750 miles right now I have one broken spoke, and several have loosened over the past 1000 miles. I've had to check them every few hundred miles and more are loose at each check, even though I tighten them down. I'm a long distance rider, and if I...

    Shinko E705 Dual Sport Tires?

I put a set on and I find they handle horribly on the road, and aren't impressive in the little bit of graded dirt roads I rode on. I would take the original battlewings any day. I can't wait for these to wear out so I can get something better on it. I do mostly road riding but thought for the...

    Loose spokes...warranty?

I pinged mine. That is how I found the three that were originally loose. One of them was obviously loose- actually rattled when i tapped it. I snugged them until they pinged. From what I have read it isn't unusual to get that with a new bike. But everything was fine every time i checked prior...

    Loose spokes...warranty?

Well after finding a few spokes when I did my tire change, I tightened them properly and rode the bike. A week later I found a broken spoke and a few more loose, and damage to the rim where the broken spoke rubbed the wheel until I noticed it. I was trying to decide between replacing it myself...

    Loose spokes...warranty?

Might be a dumb question, but are loose spokes considered a warranty item? I have a few loose ones on my 2015 with a little over 14k miles. I could simply tighten the loose ones, but I use this bike as a long distance touring bike and want to make sure they are adjusted properly so I don't have...

    Clutch troubles

My new '15 did that from the day I picked it up. I did the airscrew adjustment (http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=1973.0;topicseen) and it has been fine since.

    Oil Filters that leak

I had warned the part's store manager that they may get some complaints. I was in recently and was right. LOTS of people and shops have been returning filters and complaining about leaks, even on cars, because of the new filter design. So...why did they do this, and with the issues, are they...

    Odd clutch actuation.

I'm well aware of the MMA...I used to be a master tech. Honestly I'd rather do any work than trust the dealer, but the cost of going to court to cover a simple repair isn't worth it. I had a Yamaha dealer try to duck out of replacing a bad seat on my old RX1 snowmobile (common issue with 2003s)...

    Odd clutch actuation.

I doubt mine is temperature related. It will do it after it has sat for 2 hours on a very cool evening (40 degrees) or during a warm day. I'll be calling the dealer. I paid for the extended warranty, and I know how dealers around here are...I'm not touching a thing and possibly voiding the...

    Odd clutch actuation.

Has there been any resolution to this? My new 2015 is doing the same thing. If the bike sits (over night, or a long stop) the first time I pull the clutch in, it doesn't fully disengage. It acts as if I only pulled the lever in half way. I can tell by the feel that the lever is too close to the...

    Oil Filters that leak

I guess I'll find out. I need to pick up a filter tomorrow for my 5k mile change before the Minuteman rally this weekend. Hopefully I can easily find a concave filter.

Tires That Fit - The List

Re: Tires available in Super10 sizes, a comprehensive list I do shift my weight, but even so, a loaded up bike pushed hard is capable of scraping. Preload set high, suspension set to hard. I was leaving a couple sportbikes at every corner during one stretch! They had me in between, but they...

Tires That Fit - The List

Re: Tires available in Super10 sizes, a comprehensive list I read all the pages and it seems most people are looking for an on/off road tire (no surprise considering they are going on a Tenere). But I'm looking for tires that will last a long time on the road. I do endurance rides, some...

2014+ windscreen / GPS holder modification

Not sure what "strength" is the problem. Mine are attached to the front holes with the OEM wind deflector bolts and they have been on now for 3500 miles. 2200 of that was this past weekend, with a variety of roads including some rough roads in WV and lots of rough New England roads. NO movement...

Variation on the seat mod with pictures

I would love my pegs lower and forward, but I keep scraping them now. Had lots of fun in the mountains of WV this past weekend though!

2014+ windscreen / GPS holder modification

I knocked these out tonight after work. Just need paint. I took a test ride on a bumpy road and they are perfect! I just want to swap the black screws that came with the wind deflectors for some stainless Allen head screws to match the other fasteners on the bike. Thanks for the idea!
