I do mostly pavement riding but would like to find a tire that is ok for dirt/gravel roads. I have been thinking about Mitas tires but saw an add for these tires in the current issue of ADVMOTO magazine. I would appreciate any insight(s) you might offer if you have had these tires on your Tenere.
Thanks!

I'm looking at the same tire...an 80/20 application. Do a google search for the Shinko 705, Super Tenere. There are numerous threads, most coming from this forum.
There were early issues with rubber chunking, but that appears to have been from the bias-ply models. Radials have been getting good reviews.

I've run several sets on other DS bikes (KLR, KTM) with great results. I just recently spooned on the 804/805 series on the Tenere.

I have them and really like them. I posted run down of them a few months back.

I took them on the COBDR, I only had trouble with the deep sand on an uphill section. Other than that I typically run pavement, gravel and forest service trails that are hard clay and clay with lose rock.

Be sure to run the rear at 36 psi or more (per the Shinko rep I exchanged emails with).

Interesting as I found that running 40psi in the rear seemed ideal. When offroad (more than a dirt road) I'll run both down to 28psi. They are certainly not a mud or deep sand but for our mostly hard pack (riding on marbles) they work just fine.

I ordered a set of 705s earlier this week and they should be delivered tomorrow. Unfortunately, a busy weekend is going to keep me from spooning them on until at least next week. Will give a write up once they are in use. When the wheels are off, I also plan to check and replace bearings as warranted.

I put a set on and I find they handle horribly on the road, and aren't impressive in the little bit of graded dirt roads I rode on. I would take the original battlewings any day. I can't wait for these to wear out so I can get something better on it. I do mostly road riding but thought for the money, these are worth a try. I regret it.
