    ABS bleeding and failures

Re: Brake bleeding - need to flush the ABS pump too? After the initial flush, I took a ride on a fire road and actived the ABS (both front and rear). After returning home, I found the fluid to be almost perfect. I flushed front and rear again, and the front was slightly brown in color, but...

    ABS bleeding and failures

Re: Brake bleeding - need to flush the ABS pump too? So to do the red-neck ABS pump flush, does one need to activate the ABS by locking the rear brake AND the front brake, or will either one work? I already activated the ABS by locking the rear, and was hoping that was enough. Locking the front...

Mystery threaded hole on engine / tranny

Is this 'stub' you speak of clear? If so, mine is still on.

Mystery threaded hole on engine / tranny

Yep - that will be my afternoon project. I'll clean the area up and then watch again closely to see what happened. I hate these 'mystery' easter eggs, which is the main rease I switched from a Multistrada ::010:: Thanks to all those who replied.

Mystery threaded hole on engine / tranny

Can someone help my idenify the holes in the photo? The pic is taken from the LEFT side of the bike looking just above the clutch bleed nipple (you can see the nipple cap at the very bottom of the pic in the middle). The RED arrow is a threaded hole that I think oil may be coming out of. There...

S10 Coolant change/flush for the first time

I just drained the coolant and noticed it's BLUE. I've not run across thsi before and after condulting the manual, it seems that any coolant is OK to use as long it it's ALUM friendly and is a 50/50 mix. If anyone can add to this, I'd appreciate it. Every other liquid cooled bike I've seen has...

S10 Coolant change/flush for the first time

Thanks Scott - After reading Markjenn's post, I felt like ::010:: - had no idea what he was trying to say. Thanks for the clarification! I'll be flushing later this week!

S10 Coolant change/flush for the first time

I just did a coolant change on my TDM 850 last night, and decided I should do one on the s10 as well being as the manufacture date is 6-2011. On all bikes and cars I have owned, there are multiple points where the coolant needs to be drained. Per the S10 manual I have, it says to only drain the...

    ABS bleeding and failures

Re: Brake bleeding - need to flush the ABS pump too? You hit on exactly what I was thinking about doing. I'll just flush the lines then find a gravel area to activate use ABS, then reflush. I'm getting technical here, but if I active the ABS by using the rear brake, will that flush the ABS pump...

    ABS bleeding and failures

Re: Brake bleeding - need to flush the ABS pump too? Thanks for the tip - I have a mightyvac on order now. My question was whether I will need to 'flush' the ABS pump as well as the brake lines. Maybe I should flush the lines, and then go for a ride and operate the ABS system, and then re-bleed...

    ABS bleeding and failures

I’ve had my S10 since Aug, 2011 and feel it’s time to bleed the clutch and brake system. The clutch is straightforward, but since the bike has the ABS system, I was wondering if anything needed to be done to flush the old fluid out of the ABS pump itself. Years ago (think Yamaha GTS1000 from...

    Oil Change

Chris - thanks for the info. I'm more concerned about operational issues w/ the k&n than size. For example Subaru's are picky about which oil filters to use due some type of issues with the drain back valve inside the filter. I didn't know if the tenere was picky at all or if any filter would...

    Oil Change

It's time again for fresh oil in my tenere. I planned on using the hammy oil filters but the K&Ns are the same price and I have heard good things about them. K&N part number KN-204. I haven't been able to find anything about them on the forum but wondered if there was any reason not to use the...

So...what other bikes do you own?

Started out on a 1991 Nighthawk 750, then onto a Honda Superhawk. Sold the Superhawk, and bought a Ducati Multistrada. Loved the Adventure Touring category, but didn't have a good experience with the Multi - sold that and bought the Tenere as well as a 1992 Yamaha TDM 850 that I restored and...

    Final Drive Oil Leak

Is anyone else having this issue? I can understand the weeping around the fill hole on the rear hub, but not on the main shaft itself. Very odd.
