FS: 2012 Super Tenere in Western NY

I've got a 2012 Super Tenere that I'm going to part with, because I don't get enough chances to ride it. It's got 8048 miles at this moment. It got a new battery last year, and the oil was recently changed. It has Metzeler Karoo 3s that probably have about 1500 miles on them. I just noticed...

Glad to hear it worked out.

    Aluminum Cooler as top box......

I found that if you take the OEM plastic cases, fill them with beer bottles, pour some ice over, it'll keep the beer cold all evening... If I were going to get more fancy about it, I'd use a soft sided cooler, and just drop it into regular panniers.

Question for those who ride 2-up

I never really take my luggage off, so my wife is always climbing over it. It is generally a non-issue. When we go camping, if I start strapping dry bags to the top of the panniers, it is a bit tighter, but we still don't change the process. I get on, and stand up the bike. She grabs my...

    Why the Speedo Overstatement?

It is rare for any vehicle to read perfectly accurate. My Tenere reads about 12% high, which is in the range as most of the other bikes I've owned. My truck reads about 8% high. My wife's car reads almost completely accurate, maybe 1% high. It is the result of a number of things, but...

Rear Wheel Re-Install Question of Twisties, etc.

There was a part of the brake housing that was mostly round except for a point on it. I aligned that with the V on the speed sensor housing. I'm not sure if the speedometer comes off the front or the rear, but the two are used together to make things like traction control work. My guess is if...

    Seat Concepts

My wife really likes the pillion seat. I have no way of quantifying that, but it wasn't that much money so if she is good for a couple extra hours comfortably, I guess it was worth it. The pillion seat is also angled up more in the front, which means she sits further back and doesn't slide...

    Car gps on bike ??

As someone who owns both a RAM X grip and the GPS specific mount, I would always buy the GPS specific mount. Since I tend to keep a GPS for a few years, the $30 - $40 is well worth it for the more solid mount, in my opinion. The X grip works great for when I want my phone out and mounted (and...

    Gas mileage?

When the bike was new, I used to get 35 - 40. These days, I've been getting around 50 for a longer trip (meaning, not all start and stop like my commute).

    Car gps on bike ??

The Nuvi line used to include waterproof models that are far cheaper than the true motorcycle units. I have a Nuvi 550, but it is discontinued, and I'm not sure what the replacement is. A few things you should look for that not all car GPS units will have: - Water resistant - Ability to...

    Seat Concepts

I installed the rider and pillion seat foam and covers last weekend. I learned I am not good at upholstering, but overall, it went fine. I may end up pulling some staples out, pulling it tighter in spots, and trying again at a later date, but it's working. My pillion really liked the upgrade...

Your opinion on making a decision to buy a new 2012 S10 please.

I have a 2012, and I wouldn't spend more money on a 2013. That's a great deal on the 2012, and if you go that way, you're getting more than your money's worth. But if it were me, I'd probably spend the extra money on a 2014.
