Commuting daily on a 2013 with a tad under 90k - Had only two "issues" that could be prevented/delayed with proper maintenance:
1) Poor running condition surfaced twice due to corrosion in spark plug area. Fixed by new plugs, cleaned coils, silicone grease. (Caused by road-salt in winter)
2) Notch developing in headset bearing. I'll use this opportunity to have front forks rebuilt.
I once created a problem myself by using a lock cylinder lubricant in the ignition which contained graphite. This caused an electrical/ignition issue and codes. Flushed it out with WD40 and ACF 50, fixed.
Somehow, I believe I'm on the original front brake pads. WTF?
Valves - Had them checked twice, needed adjustment both times.
Oil - Blackstone Lab analysis recently came back as excellent. I experience little to no loss/burn. I do get quite a bit in the airbox from sustained higher speeds.
In summary, I absolutely love the bike, it's performance, reliability, and comfort. Anything much faster, I'd get in trouble with the law.
Having said that, my next bike will probably be an MT-09SP....but I'll always have my S10
