I do not want to comment on a problem, a society or country, of which I am not part. But, if at any time you have the opportunity to read the following book, you will see that at least 98% of the answers to “social problems”are written in this book.

I have been waiting for the Q to surface. Something i dont understand. Why has Trump cosied up to the Israelis so much ?
It goes against the retoric on the video.
Of couse the aim could be access to their rather wonderful sypware tech which they sell to oppressive governments. Jerusalem their capitol ?. This makes no sense to me. I think if things had continued as they were American troops would soon have been stationed there. I think its the complete opposite of what that video is trying to say. Looks to me like he was their puppet.

I’m looking forward to Joe Biden signing the executive order to dismantle the “wall” that Trump apparently built between the USA and Mexico. And lifting all of the travel restrictions from the middle eastern countries imposed by Trump (even if it was a list of countries developed by the Obama administration!).

A nation with out secure borders is not a nation. If you live on an island not much need for a wall. And Israel is an ally and has always been one. And a Democrat country.
Israel can not be a democratic country is it only serves its citizens of a certain faith.

I am quite ambivalent about Trump and his politics or leadership, but he was the democratically elected president and should be respected accordingly. The problem with democracy in recent years is the desire to achieve consensus, which becomes impossible when society becomes polarised between groups with diametrically opposed views and beliefs. We saw this with Brexit where the 48% who voted to remain wanted their views to be respected (even though this was impossible); after all, they were an enormous pressure group. It seems to be the same with the Republicans, who lost by a similar margin. People are unhappy to accept that democratic elections are often a binary choice which result in a substantial proportion of the electorate being disappointed. If we want democracy to continue to work, the 48% have to accept that the views of the 52% must be allowed to prevail.

In much of Western Europe they have managed with consensus politics for years, but then there is little difference between the policies of different parties and the coalitions don’t make any real changes!

I would like to respond to Matt's title and answer the question.
Yes it is political and I congratulate you for getting away with it.
I thought political threads were not allowed here and then not only the moderator accepts it but joins right in with his own bias political post.
Not for thee but yes for me Good grief .
I'm assuming that it was decided to allow this thread to be the lightning rod. If all the political posts end up here. . . . there not in the other threads. People want/have to vent. . . . if you're going to let them, mind as well try and keep it under control. Just a guess.

To be honest i think enough has been said now and we should all agree to dissagree and move on as a group but not to an oil thread. I will not be posting up anything more here. Respect given to all the views posted.

Well, we've made it nearly through another day and this hasn't become a total shit-show that I feared with people attacking each other or even really their views. A few posts have been a bit provocative and could have started trouble, but the people following for the most part have had the smarts to let those be. I appreciate comments like fac191 made on knowing when to agree to disagree.

Thanks guys!
