Yoshimura RS4 replacement baffle?

Noticed the other day that my number plate holder had melted a little. On further inspection I noticed that the baffle from my Yoshimura RS4 was missing! Fallen out? Stolen? I don't know, but either way it's not there.

The baffle as a curved tip that diverts the flow downwards, and as it's not going down, that's caused the melting I guess. (Picture attached of the bit that is now missing!)

Anyway, any ideas where I can get a replacement from in the UK? I've done some googling, and emailed Yoshimura but having little luck at the moment.

If u did purchase the Yoshi, get the dealer to order it, or find a Yoshi distributor contact. Worst case, custom it at a pipe shop.

As a short term fix, either drop the hanger or make one out of some flat steel bar so that the tip of the exhaust hangs lower until you find what you need?

Here is a US seller that ships world wide. Yes, they are quoting $22 USD to ship to the UK, but the part is only $26.95 USD, so total to you ~37 GBP.
EBAY LINK

There are several others on the US ebay site, but some do not ship world wide. Most are the same price.

The screw that holds your baffle tip in , is still screwed in , so if someone stole it they put the screw back in, impossible to just fall out, screw would be missing......odd, sure there was one on your pipe?

Exactly! I've never removed the baffle and seeing the screw back in is what makes me think it was stolen! It was definitely there, the first picture is my bike when I put it on! It's literally happened in the last couple of weeks. Very annoyed.

Ok, so I'm having no luck. Yoshimura and various retailers in the UK And US are not replying!

The exact model of the exhaust is an RS4T 131202D520 SO SS/SS/CF. I managed to find the box at home with those details. I search for that on the Yoshimura website and nothing comes up.

Can anyone help at all?

Update!

I've just heard back from Yoshimura with a contact for a UK distributed to get in touch with.

Great. Could you also ask them if there was any way that the tip could have degraded the mounting hole or the piece split or some explanation as to how the locking screw remained? Maybe attack it from that angle first instead of mentioning theft?

It just seems so odd that someone would go to the effort to steal the tip AND put the screw back! Like you weren't going to notice? ::017::

I did that, had quite a few emails exchanged with a helpful guy from Yoshimura. He wa stumped as to how I think could have happened, as am I still! No idea how it's happened, there had to have been human intervention,.

Anyway, if it happens to anyone else, these are the part numbers and UK costs....

Low Volume insert tube INS-RS4T-A = £14
Bolt M6X14BHS = £1
Turn down RS2-RING-04 = £42

Yes, £42 for the small plastic ring that diverts the flow away from the number plate!!!

Yikes! Expensive parts but at least it can be solved.

The only thief wanting that diversion pipe would be another S10 owner with a similar pipe, who lost his. That is so rare for it being a theft case.

I use to make a baffle out of a soda can material, for a pipe that was too loud (no options for db killer). They maybe thin but if it is well clamped, it would last a while. Being thin, it is easy to work with.

I have the same exhaust on mine matey. And NO I haven't stolen it!! ::025::

I had the same issue with the number plate carrier melting and I found the shop had mounted the hanger wrongly. It was mounted inside of the frame point and not on the outside. Only about 15mm difference but it hasn't melted it since moving it. Just a thought. And mine doesn't have the turn down on either.

You sure it wasn't you!! :D :D :D

Mines mounted right, on the outside of the hangar, it just seems to tilt in a bit. I've bent it a little but hasn't made much difference. Hopefully the parts will arrive soon!
