This may seem like a silly question, however, on the FJR forum there were several posts about the cheapest local to purchase an extended warranty. Has anyone or does anyone know where to buy a reasonable priced extended warranty? My dealership is doing nothing but quoting the page from corp and will not go down in price. Kinda thinking that this bike is going to be around alot longer than a year.....I love this bike!

I was undecided about buying a YES 4 yr warranty for my ST. I went ahead and purchased one from Yamaha of Jefferson listed on this site. It was an easy transaction. I hope to not need it, but am reassured if a major repair comes up, the Yamaha warranty will cover it. I ride mostly street and some gravel roads. The ST is a fun bike.

The YES policy on my Tenere has allready paid for it`s self.I have a shifting problem they so far haven`t been able to solve. It hangs in gear on up shifts, not the old missed shift we all get once in a while but sometime`s on upshifts the lever moves but it stays in the same gear.Yamaha has shipped parts from Japan twice trying to fix it.We have not split the cases yet as neither I nor Yamaha guys want to do that untill it becomes unridable. It so far is a part time problem and does not stop me from riding, just got to be careful whene it acts up.Yamaha says that mine is the only on with this problem so far.

You might be the first unfortunate S10 owner to have a serious issue. (That I have heard of)

I'm certain you would rather not have that distinction.

I have experienced the same thing. It's pretty embarrassing to think you upshifted and then let the clutch out and end up with your body lurching forward because it is still in the same gear. It doesn't happen often to where I am overly concerned but it is a worry. I also need to make sure it isn't my fault. My size 15 feet aren't exactly nimble. When I first got the bike the shifting was, IMO, very poor. Thanks to the info here I lubed the pivot bolt and it is much better now. I sure wish our bikes had the nice big gear indicator like the one on the FJR.

Jly51 is likely to say that it is not what is happening to his Tenere. But, for his sake I hope it is.

I too have a fat foot and I have had a few occasions where I apparently didn't let the shifter return all the way from the previous shift. Thus the next up-click didn't click.

It was earlier on in ownership and I just "learned". Hasn't been an issue since.
And like MANY others, I have experienced a substantial improvement in shifting "feel" each time I lubed the pivot. I always underestimate the affect it's going to have.

I too was mystified on our trip back from AR this November as to why I was always "misshifting" when I hadn't changed anything in my riding style. Turned out to just be a dirty pivot. A zerk is on the to-do list before the weather breaks here in Iowa for good, but you're right, just cleaning and lubing the pivot works great.

I'm sure the OP is beyond this point, however, and wish him the best. Please keep us posted on this so that others can benefit if searching...

Another feature of the extended warranty - it is a selling point ... assuming that you sell/trade the bike before the end of the warranty period.

If you have size 15 feet, you might want to extend the shifter by about a 1/2 inch. I did that on my KLR, and it improved the shifting significantly. Your foot does not have to bend so far down for an upshift with an extended lever.
