Looks like a nice ride for the Star crowd. Combines HD Ultra Classic, Victory Vision and Honda Goldwing with a little Yamaha Star DNA.

I like the looks, as it's not as futuristic as the Victory was. Kinda surprised they went with what is an older motor and that I don't see electronic suspension available.

I like it. Air cooled, massive torque, really good electronics, led lights, a goldwing with a rocking V-twin.....the only thing worrisome is the 34 mpg. V-twins make really good open road motors and they settle into a nice rhythm IMHO.

I'm not surprised at the offering or the $24-26k price point. It will probably sell well.

I do still wish they would come out with a mid size, shaft drive ADV bike. >:D. Mostly because I want to see them crush all the posuer bikes to dust. F bikes, vstroms, versys and the little tigers would suddenly be worth 40% of their current values. :D

I thought they might go with the latest V4 V-Max motor again, but lighten up the chassis. This is like an ultra heavyweight Victory Vision, with less ambitious styling, & still air cooling (I think) - how do they get it through CA emissions? Maybe they hired a bunch of guys from VW ;D

Still, the jury is out until some real world riders can get hold of one. It may well work if the mass is low/centred well ................. KEN.

I too was hoping for the Vmax motor (retuned) in this bike, since I think the Goldwing is without competion outside of the BMW K1600 GTL. I guess that even Yamaha, with its recent history of setting trends rather than following them, is playing it safe with this one. I was kind of seeing that "traditional v-twin" vibe in the promo vids, but was hoping for the best. Not that I was anxious to dump my FJR for it, but it would have been a tougher decision if it had come with that big vee four. Oh well...

To me, it looks like they are targeting H-D more than any other competitor. Doesn't make sense to me, but what do I know?

After thinking about this today and knowing how much market research Yamaha does, my guess is they know exactly who they can pick off from Harley. Guys who are mature and gray enough to know the benefit of a simple big proven air cooled twin, while young enough at heart to want better styling than the same old Harley bat-wing fairing.

Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. For their target Star brand customers, it's probably a winner. For me, if I wanted a big twin luxo-tourer, I'd probably look at the Indian first.

Hardly different than the Voyager now. Maybe a little better looking and electronics, but........................ :-\
