Hi Fred,
I wonder if I pulled the plate up so much in the rear that it lifted the front enough too. I know I had to make a clearance slot in the front of the plate for the Arrows which was an initial problem with an ACD plate with Arrows. Which begs the question, does the plate still have to be modified in the front to clear the Arrow headers on a '14 or newer or has that problem been rectified also. If it has, then maybe the whole plate has changed a little bit and it's further forward, as well as lowered, hence the clearance issues?

Skid plate touched down at the very rear-

It's not like I was on Power Ones either-

And like I said, conditions were not too great either-

The ACD has to be modded to clear the Arrow headers on a 2014. I didn't cut a slot but used a 2x4 on end to bend a bit out for clearance.

Jud,
"Most" of the problem is that stupid Cat Converter on the '14+ models. As If the S-10's didn't have enough ground clearance problems already, Yamaha goes and subtracts another 1/2" or so with the '14+ header, so now, the plate has to be even lower to clear it. I just went and put Arrow headers on my bike (did not need any ECU mods) and modified the rear mount to the Gen1 specs and there are no clearance issues with cornering.
I had heard you could use 13 back Arrow headers on the 2nd Gen and almost decided to buy a used set last year but the seller informed me he had fueling issues and I already had my own with nothing at all done to the bike so I chickened out dammit. Anyone have a set of used Arrow headers they wanna sell????

Also, if I did swap to the Arrow header, I would need a 13 back rear bracket I 'spose. Thinking out loud here but could one just drill directly under the factory center stand bolt holes or would that result in raising it too much?

Concerning the Arrow header installed on a Gen II with a ACD skid plate:

I assume you replace the rear skid plate mount with a 13 back mount and I hear that you have to clearance the skid plate up front somewhere to clear the Arrow header. Anyone running a ACD skid and an Arrow header? If so, I really would like to hear from you. I have already bought this plate, installed it, figured out it needed studs up front and made some up and installed them. I really don't want to go through the trouble and expense of buying and installing the header, modding the ACD plate to work with the header and buying a new damned rear mount {BTW, wonder if I could simply drill new holes directly under the ones already there?} only to have the plate drag only slightly after the pegs.

Or should I cut my losses, stop chasing my ass and buy a Altrider skid plate then sell the ACD?

You don't have to replace the rear mount .There will just be a larger gap between the plate and the bike.

The ACD skid plate on my 14 Tenere is dragging during cornering. It touches down before the pegs and I don't like the reduced cornering clearance. I heard that if you run the Arrow headers and get rid of the cat, you then have room to move the skid plate up. So yea, I know I don't have to run the Gen 1 rear bracket,,,,,,, I want to so I can gain cornering clearance.

Hello guys i have a 2013 with Arrow headers . I touch my left peg a little and touch the centerstand on the right side . I would like to get a ACD skidplate and Givi crashbars . If i raised the bike 1"-11/4" with a dogbone do you think i would still scrape ? Should i get a Touratech? THANKS

To answer a previous question on the SW Motech skid plate. It weighs 6.4 lbs. or 2.9 kg. with all brackets and hardware. Also, in the original post. the weight listed for the Hepco Becker looks to be incorrect. I weighed mine and the plate without brackets is about 7 lbs. So, it probably weighs in at approximately 8.5 lbs. or 3.8kg. with all brackets and hardware. I originally bought the SW Motech, but switched to the Hepco Becker for more protection for the oil filter.

...and the Yamaha accessory skid plate comes in at 3.3 lbs. Or 1.5 kg. Again with brackets and hardware.
