With the heat of summer, 2013 models in the wings and the economy do you think Yamaha will be pushing insentives to clear S10's on the dealer's floors? I've been waiting to buy but can't hold out much longer. ::001::

I don't know - Aren't the big sales in the spring and late fall?

I get the impression Yamaha is building only on demand in small lots, so I don't sense a huge buildup of inventory which is what typically spurs factory incentives. And I don't think we know for certain that Yamaha is even going to have a 2013 model.

Individual dealers with floor stock will typically get more aggressive with pricing as the summer wears on, especially in northern climes.

Waiting now for a better price seems like a low-benefit strategy to me.

Blasphemy! No 2013 model? >:D >:D

Seriously though, in my opinion if Yamaha wants to continue to play in this area, there better be more than a 1 year investment in the north American environment.

My only comment pertains to buffeting. I am also 6-3 and run a large Cal Sci screen and run highway often and wish I would have gone with their XL but other than that the bike is perfect for me. I also ditched the stock seat for a BMS (Bill Mayer Saddles) aftermarket one and love it.

I think the pre-order scheme that Yam ran on the S10 gave them a pretty good feel for what demand would be like (for the first year anyway), so I doubt there is very much excess inventory of S10's and not much incentive to cut prices. Besides, they are already a lot cheaper than competing models, it's a bit much to expect eh?

There may be a $200 (or so) rebate available in the fall, but I certainly wouldn't be missing the whole season just to save $200.

My bet is that a 2013 model will have a changed color scheme, that's about it. There a no glaring weaknesses in this bike that they need to change in order to keep selling them.

I run a Cal-Sci with the Wasp bracket. With the shield raised slightly and tilted slightly it provides a near perfect air flow.
One of the best combinations I have had on any bike.

I had a dealer that had two S-10s on the floor in early July tell me that the PD program was no longer and that he could get replacements (2012 models) for his stock easily from the Yamaha warehouse. This suggests that either the PD program had several turn backs because of delays, or Yamaha produced more than the Pre delivery orders thinking that they would sell more than the PDs. I know dealers have complained that the PD program doesn't allow potential buyers to sit and touch before buying. Anyway, this dealer indicated that there were S10s available and there was a dealer rebate tp help move the bikes.

They have had several production runs since the PDP program ended. I just set up one for my dealer that was made in early 2012. The PDP bikes were delivered at the end of July 2011.

my bike was built in Feb2012, well after the pre-order production. I bought mine on 6/30, got cash back DIRECTLY from Yamaha yesterday... a check of $200.00. The dealer promised me that Yamaha would give me a gift card of $200 but it showed up in form of a check. Even better... BTW, I had a great dealer... Woods Country Cycle in New Braunfels. Nice and honest people... I was a first time buyer there and will not be my last...

I stopped in for a can-am demo day at my dealer just for a pit stop and to grab a pulled pork sandwich. They hadn't sold the Blue S10 yet from late spring that was still in the crate when I bought my BLACK one the day after it was prepped - same shipment. :p :p Anyway, they made that their demo bike and brought in another Blue one outside of their initial run that they got in.

Frankly, I'm a bit surprised they haven't moved it yet.
