Yamaha OEM Panniers - single sided mounting

O/k I know the Yamaha instructions for their panniers specifically state maximum weight loadings and the fact that they should only be mounted as a pair ::022:: I guess this is associated with riding balance and handling.

However I don't carry much during the day but find the right-hand pannier useful for carrying my laptop to work and picking up the odd bag of groceries on the way home ::001::

So providing loading is kept to a minimum can anyone see any issues associated with pannier riding one-up :-\

I don't see a problem with it. Especially since they don't rely on anything to secure the lower, rear corner...ala crossbar.

aesthetically it might look a little odd with only one pannier and perhaps affect handling. am i missing something, or why not just throw the left one on and keep it empty? ::001::
