Does anyone have any information on how the world crosser skid plate mounts? Use reviews, rants, praise, or anything that might be valuable to help make a decision purchase? I have the OEM engine guards that are compatible with very few skid plates. I was about to go for the SW Motech when I ran across information about the world crosser skid plate, but can't find much in the way of information on it.

Maybe this helps

...

The strong, 3mm-thick, aluminum skid plate replaces the stock plastic skid plate. The plate helps protect your engine from small stones and other trail debris.

A separate World Crosser Skid Plate Extension is available to extend the coverage of protection provided by the skid plate.

The World Crosser Skid Plate Extension cannot be used in conjunction with Super Ténéré Engine Guards.

Just remember it's not meant to be a bash plate. They look good and deflect rocks and debris thrown up by the front wheel that would otherwise hit the alloy belly of the bike better than plastic. Bash one real good and there's a high percentage likelihood of doing damage to the motor at one of the mounting points.
Bash; verb, to hit a immobile object with a mobile object.

I have a world crosser so I obviously have one. It looks good to me, a nice fit and fairly substantial. I haven't yet done any serious off roading but I think it would do a reasonable job.

I've had the same thoughts over the years and like the look of the extensions. However, I don't like the idea of having to remove more bolts when I do an oil change, especially if I'm on the road.

This is the pertinent point though as the OP said he has the OEM engine guards.

The World Crosser Skid Plate Extension cannot be used in conjunction with Super Ténéré Engine Guards.

Yeah, I saw on their page "small stones and other trail debris." Woohoo... hell a piece of plastic will do that... lol I think I'll still go with the SW Motech. Thanks for all the replies.
