Can seem to find a thread using search showing how folks hardwire in accessories, so don't flame the layman ::002:: . On my KLR, I had everything coming directly off of the battery with fuses a couple inches away from the battery hook-up.

Obviously this is fine if there are only a few things you're wanting to wire in, but with my S10, I'm thinking of doing it right. Perhaps an AP-1 or AP-2 from Eastern Beaver.

Where is a good place to mount this and are there any examples showing how to wire it up for switched power? With the S10's alternator output of 600W, waaay more than I'm used to being able to work with, I'm planning on running heated grips, a powered topcase for 12V charging of accessories, and my GPS.

Thanks!
Karson

Perfect! What made you lean one way or the other away from the AP-2? From what I've gathered, you're the farkle-master around these parts :)

Thanks for the quick help!

I put my FZ-1 Fuzeblock in the same place as Phil put his AP-1 [Click], although I only have three accessories on it at the moment. But it's there to build on. :)

Does anyone like the idea of having a separate external relay in the PC-8 that isn't integrated like the FZ-1?

I THINK I do. It is a standard automotive relay I can find anywhere and replace for $10 if it ever becomes an issue.

The relay in the FZ-1 can be replaced if it blows. It’s in the directions or on their website on how to do it. If it blows on the road, I’d move everything I needed over to unswitched circuits on the fuzeblock panel and keep going. :)

That's a great point about backup options.

I think my favorite aspect of the EB is the straight up "plug and play" nature. No hacking (tapping) into the stock wiring.

Karson, another option for the EB PC-8 install. Bought the 24 inch harness and located PC-8 on small plate with existing bolt at this location (keep it tight and close so fairing cover dosen't touch it)
Fed wires from relay over battery, down the side and into the bottom of the fuse panel.
EB external relay (red, orange, blue wires) is just below and left of negative battery terminal. Tied the switch wire from the relay into the three pin OEM acc. lighting plug, switched wire.
Mounted the Oxford grip controller to a plate seen just above the top edge of the bars. The location to the right of the grip controller will be for a future horn relay. Isn't wiring fun. ::)
Mine wasn't the plug and play style so that would speed it up a bit for you.

I mounted my PC8 in the space at the top right of the picture
shown above. Trimmed the plastic sticking up and mounted the
PC8 with Velcro. Wanted the PC8 mounted high up away from any
chance of water. The Relay went on the post next to the battery.

That's how I have mine. I would have preferred to have the fuse in in a differnent spot within that orange wire, so the wire could be routed in a neater fashon, but all-in-all I'm please with the setup...especially the plug-n-play into the acc lights connector. I like the current handling of the EB box as well. About twice that of the FZ-1

It looks to me that EB has their wire lengths backwards for the Tenere. Their ground wire is longer than the positive wire. For the Tenere I would expect the opposite as the positive terminal is further from the fuse block mounting location.

Is this the case? If so, has anyone discussed this with EB yet?

I talked to him (Jim) awhile back and he said the positive lead is a prefab molded type that doesn't come in any other length. The negative lead 's length can be changed with no problem, but we both know that's only half of the issue.
