I read somewhere on a thread that someone fixed the glare coming off the clear yamaha winglets. I've searched and searched for the post. Can't locate it. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem. It's really distracting on a long highway run.

I have seen a number of methods, but what seemed to be the most effective was to spray them flat black (or any other color, I suppose).

Just paint them, black is a good colour, however, does absorb solar energy. I bought the black tinted ones for that same reason, and it matched my bike.

I've never had an issue with glare from the winglets. Perhaps I need to move somewhere that gets more sun than Northern England ?

Hmm, is there such a thing as a clear flat or satin?

1st run after installing my winglets and the sun glare was pretty bad. I used some 3m tape that is used to protect from paint chips, it's pretty thick and is easy to apply/remove, also used it on my tank and covered up some of the exhaust cover ( too much silver)
.

Haven't needed it myself (52,000+ miles) but...

... very fine sandpaper. Simple and cheap.

... 3M 764 tape. The adhesive does not get slimey and it does not glare.

... Anti-Glare film.

... Hairspray ???

Me neither.
I do like the hairspray idea. ::008::

I've been using the Yamaha winglets for a couple of years without any glare problems. I live in Malta (south Mediterranean) and the sun really shines here. 38 deg. Celsius (101 F) today :(

Having said that, I use a full face helmet and this probably shields any winglets glare somewhat.

I live in the desert, and ride long distances for travel and sometimes fun. (wear a modular, but closed, with internal sun visor) The glare did bother me and I did what others have done and just painted them flat black. It's held up well for ~60k or so miles so far. A couple of light scratches thru to the clear, but not so much as I feel the need to re-paint. I don't wash the bike very often, (rain doesn't count), just clean the bits that need cleaning, (mirrors, windscreen, lights, lens, etc) and what ever I'm working on when doing maintenance. It's solved my issue well.

After reading all your great ideas, I decided to use black plasti dip spray. This way I can always peel it off if I don't like it, and I can easily wash bug guts off the bottom side. Killed the glare and I think looks pretty sweet. I rode from Orlando to Atlanta last month and the glare gave me a head ache. No reason for that.
