Alright...I am in windscreen hell right now. Why is that, you say?

It's me being 6'5" (196cm) tall with a 36" (91.4cm) inseam. So far I have tried 1 screen other than stock and have 2 in my garage to be tested.

Stock short screen is actually a very advanced, but simply executed "Automatic-air-buffeting modulator". It works well for actually shearing the air and directing it at your chin at relativistic velocities.

Next, I tried a National Cycle Sport/Tour screen. It simply adjusted the air at similar velocities into my helmet visor causing it to oscillate. Yes, oscillate. I had double-vision from the vibes similar to what LSD users experience.

Next, I have installed the MR Vario screen with the little deflector on the top, but have yet to try it out. It looks a little more promising so stay tuned.

After that I will install the Givi D447ST screen and see how that goes. Not sure what to expect.

I also have on order a Madstad adjustable bracket that will most likely open up all sorts of possibilities with all of these screens. We shall see...

Depending on what combination ends up working out I may have a screen or two to sell. Ha!

The stock short screen looks to have been designed more for looks than airflow. Givi air flow. It may be ugly, but it works. I'm 6-2 and the upper part (fully extended) is just high enough to work well w/o buffeting, excessive noise, and good weather protection for me. It might not be too short for you for best wind blockage, I may be 6-2 but my inseam is 32 inches so I sit pretty tall on the bike. I use the bottom part all by itself when its' warmer out or I'll be heading out off road and get clean smooth air from mid chest on up

I am 6'6" with a 36" inseam and I've found an acceptable combination with the MRA Vario screen with lip and the Madstad bracket. Add some earplugs and you might be happy. As with everything in life, it seems, guys our size have to make do.

6'-3" 36 inseam here

I have a madstad adjustable bracket and the madstad 20" windshield, which I put at 90 degrees, straight up and down

Works perfect

I'm interested to hear how the MRA works for you. I just installed one and have about 100 miles on it. For me it was about 70% to expectation, but still some buffet. I know my helmet is low-tech (Arai XD) and not helping - so next???

I went through this same "merry go round" on my GS's and by far the best configuration was no screen on the 1150 GSA and bikini fairing on the 1200GSA (just protect the back of the clocks).
I have an MRA with deflector fitted on the S10 and it is much better than stock but I still have a suspision that anagain a very short screen to protect the back of the instruments would be the way to go. There is a greater exposure to the weather but the airflow is clean and undisturbed when it gets to you and your helmet.
The MRA worked well on a wet 1500km dash recently but I wonder............

Parabellum with a WASP Adjuster.

Works perf..

to the extra width of the Parabellum or VStream.
You could also get the tall and trim to what fits you.

I'm quite a bit shorter, but have installed the MRA Xcreen (Vario touring with deflector) just last week, and am quite happy with it. I'd think with some deflector adjustment you'd be able to get the airflow over your helmet. I had the stock screen with just an Xcreen deflector previously and could get the airflow over my head with that. Me with the stock screen and deflector is probably about like you with the MRA Xcreen/Vario with deflector. I only installed the MRA Xcreen to get more width and hopefully cut down some of the wind noise.

I use the national cycle vstream in tall and a corbin seat, works well for me.

I also switched from a Shoei Hornet DS helmet to the Neotec and that made a HUGE difference in comfort / buffeting.

I'm 6'6" with a 35" inseam.

Hope this helps.

Good suggestions, guys. Thanks.

I was looking at the parabellum setup, too. Looks good. I am going to try the Vario along with the Madstad bracket that is inbound as that looks to be a good setup, but only time will tell. Maybe a different helmet would work better, too. I currently ride with an AGV AX-8 DS EVO.

Being tall has drawbacks, but at least I can grab stuff off of the top shelf. :)

The key to your dilemma is the adustable bracket. Once you get your Madstad brkt & play with it you will wonder what all the fuss was :))
I am much shorter 5'8" 29" inseam so I am all torso. I've always had some sort of adjuster on my other bikes and the S10 lasted 1 day
before it got a Wasp adjuster and MRA Vario. I am extremely pleased with it. Can adjut it way down for hot days or way up and move the lip for virtually zero turbulence in cold

You know...I am beginning to think you are right about that. I have a good feeling about the Vario + the Madstad setup. That smoke-tint Vario sure looks nice on a black bike. I hope to keep that screen!

I'm very interested to see how this comes out for you.
The visor on my XD-4 vibrates to bad, it sounds like my head is in a drum.
Luckily, I'm in my break-in period and am keeping the speeds down.
But, I come home with headaches often. Anything above 45 is unbearable.
Good Luck!

Well, I rode with the Vario and while it still put the air at about face level (a bit lower than the National Cycle) it smoothed it out. No matter what screen I end up with I will need to use the Madstad to get the screen more straight as opposed to being swept back on the stock mount. Out of all of them the Vario looks the best. I need function above all, though. I will give the Givi a go tomorrow and see how it is. I should have the Madstad next Wednesday.

I'm 6'1", the V-Stream Medium works for me. You may want to try the large. The greatest improvement was when I bought the SHOEI full face. No buffeting and the helmet is aerodynamic so my head doesn't get pushed around.

Got ya. been eyeballing other helmets, but I do LOVE my AGV. Nice lid and it is way light.

I am trying to find a happy medium of screen and height of the screen. I don't want a barn door on the front of the bike :)

Actually, this bike is a barn door. And with it's good posture ergos, the rider doesn't exactly lower the drag coefficient.

I say that to explain it took a Large shield handle the wind management for me. And after I got over the "cop bike look", I had to admit it worked great. It's an adventure bike. It was born odd looking.

Givi Airflow works well for me at 6'1.

Still quite fancy a MadStad for even more adjustment options.

The windscreen on my PD Concours is ENORMOUS (larger than the stock ones that come with the C14) and it can be raised/lowered as I ride and I STILL get conditions which produce wind buffeting etc. The title of Merry-go-round by the OP is perfect. My point is riders should not drive themselves crazy trying to find the perfect windscreen- it doesn't exist. I agree with the statement the adventure bike is odd-looking (just like the riders).
