Will I pay more for a '14 or '15 standard Super Tenere now or in April 2015?

I'm getting a bonus in mid March '15 and will then be ready to purchase either a '14 or '15 standard Super Tenere. This will be pretty close to the start of spring when I would assume bikes start selling more. As the laws of supply and demand play out I would also assume that the out the door costs would go up.

Should I expect to pay more, less or about the same if I were to buy now opposed to next Spring?

Fly and buy at Romney cycles. Word is that you will never NOT get a good deal there on a Tenere.

Then enjoy bonding with your new ride back to the bayou!

Right now there is a $500 "customer cash" promotion and Yamaha dealer incentives on several 2014 bikes including another $1500 on the Super Tenere. That amounts to $2,000 off for the S10 right now. The present $1500 incentive started Oct 1 and ends Dec 27. Dealers don't know until the first of each month what incentives Yamaha will offer, so we don't know what Jan 1 will bring. My dealer was looking to order another 14 ES this week and there are none available from Yamaha, only from dealers that have them in stock. There are standards, but no ES models.

So, what I am saying is that right now you should be able to buy a 14 for $2,000 less than you will in the spring. These incentives may be continued next month, but with them selling out of the ES, it doesn't seem likely.

Yes, you should expect to pay more in spring.

Spring is peak season and demand is at is highest. Incentives will likely not be as strong as they are now and dealers will not offer their best prices. I typically buy everything off-season for this very reason.

I think it depends on what year model you buy. If you buy '15 in early 15 you are going to pay more… If you are looking at a left-over '14 in '15 it will probably be less then than now….

I know thats what I've seen here in CO with other bikes...

The only problem is the bike you want may not be available in the spring. Talking specifically about the 14 ES. This week my dealer found that none are available from Yamaha and there are only 2 at dealers in IL. Surely some dealers will have one available in the spring, but it may not be very close to you.

Best of luck with your decision.

I know that there is only one 2014 ES in the state of Oklahoma and no standards. There is a dealer in Kansas who has standards but no ES's. It will almost be a crap shoot come spring in what you find. Even the 15's will be doled out slowly.

What he said. Also, if you REALLY want a good deal hunt for a bike in the snowbelt during Dec or Jan/Feb. Dealers there simply aren't selling bikes at that time and are often "hungry" for a sale. You may have to drive to get it & truck/trailer it home, but if the deal is good enough......

I'm thinking a dealer with a '14 on the floor in the spring of '15 will be willing, very willing, to negotiate to move the "left over" product.

I wish the snow belt had good deals. I tried for the last year to buy one here in Maine. I ended up driving to West Virginia the week before Thanksgiving. Purchased at Romney. 11300 out the door for a new 14 standard. I was told by then they were getting hard to find. Brad said he had one 14 ES still on the floor but would have to work to find another standard. I do not think you will find a 14 standard in the spring. I would buy now and put it in the family room. I was impressed with Romney. Such that, my buddy and I are heading down in Feb or March to pick up his new FJ09. Saving 1000 dollars over Maine dealers on a brand new model.

Buy now.

The deals/discounts are better now than they have ever been since the bikes inception. I don't think we will see this kind of deep discounting after the 27th.

It's a bit of a lottery really, as has been said before the bike you want may not be available. If you buy now you have plenty of farkling time to get it just right for summer ::008::

I bought my 2014 non-ES for $10995 at TriCounty Honda Yamaha in Petersburg, WV on November 20. http://www.tricountyhonda.com/

Yamaha is running a financing promo for 6 months at 0%. If you pick up a 2014 now, you'd have the $$ to knock down the tab in March and have the bike sooner without worrying about what the new promo deal might be.

Best,

Chris
