Cousin and I have been planing a 6 month long ride out west and to Prudhoe Bay for about three and a half years. He left VA two weeks ago to visit in San Antonio And I left last Saturday to meet up with him in Texas. Caught up with him yesterday at Monahans State Park. Camped there and left this morning for Big Bend national Park for a few days. Will be updating blog as we move along and get some kind of internet signal.

Wait till you see the sunset, sunrise. :)
The place truly is magical.
Grab some grub in Terlingua.
Might catch the fire dancers on a Friday night.

Update for the last week. We left Big Bend National Park with Guadalupe National National Park as next destination. Spent one night there then on to Carsbad Caverns. Awesome. Spent night in Roswell NM. Next day spent some Time in Lincoln NM. Where Billy The Kid escaped jail from. On to Route 66 in Moriarty NM. Next day Durango was destination. Over one pass at 10300 ft. Plenty of a aw around. Durango to Moab UT. Spending week here. Visiting the parks. Rode to Telluride CO over La Sal mountian on forest service roads. Above snow line there. Rode up into canyon where Black Bear pass drops out into Telluride. Watch 14 avalanches while we were up there. Snow coming off those cliffs. Did Shafer trail and a little bit of White Rim trail in Canyonlands yesterday. Trip has been awesome up to now.

We had a rain day on 13th. 14th did some maintenance on bikes like changing oil. Went and watched Jeeps and trucks do some rock climbing.
Left Moab and rode back to Mesa Verde National Park. The cliff dwellers were hard workers. Unbelivable the structures they built in the cliffs with no tools.
Rode down the Moki Dugway. Grand Canyon today finishing up in Route 66 Motel in AZ.

For those in the area that may know here is the route we rode Saturday from the Rock Store. And those that may pass through some day it was a great ride. Santa Monica mountains north of Malibu

Picked up Mulholland Hwy west again
Little Sycamore Canyon Rd. NW
which turns into
Yerba Buena (Out cropping where we stopped to over look Conejo Valley. 1000 Oaks, Westlake Village, Lake Sherwood Tiger Woods tournament and at our feet in the canyon below is where Hollywood Animal Actors place is. Late evening you can here the lions roar. Forgot to mentoin the tidbit while we there. picture #2 From there we saw Santa Cruz and Anacapa Islands t the west.
then
Cotharin Rd. (747 wing house, you can actually make them out on google maps)
then
Pacific View Dr.
Then

Trip has been going smooth until we arrived in Dawson City Yukon. Found a bad rear wheel bearing on Jerry's bike. There are no motorcycles shops anywhere near there so we decided to fly in my spare rear wheel from FL. Good thing was that Dawson had an airport to get it into. We had just ridden the last 150 miles at 80 to 85 MPH. When we removed the rear wheel there was only one ball left. Rest were dust. Also best place to find problem between Whitehorse and Fairbanks. Down for three days waiting for wheel.
Left Dawson and rode over Top of the World HWY into Alaska. Rain most of the way so the views were not very good.
In Fairbanks now getting ready to ride the haul road to Deadhorse/Prudhoe Bay.

Parking the trailers when getting into the rough stuff? I was wondering how the Bushtecs are doing.

The trailers have been doing fine. We did leave them in Whitehorse to do the rough stuff in Alaska. Have already been missing the creature comforts left behind like big tents and cots :)
