I have looked for this cover in this picture and can not find it anywhere.

The black plastic under the headlights is what this photo is supposed to be demonstrating. I think the photo is misleading and needs arrows or something similar to not be so misleading

In the USA and want the OEM headlight cover ( which Yamaha USA refuses to carry though it clearly says for off road use only) Get it from Yamaha Canada at

https://www.yamahagenuineparts.com/TopPicks/moreinfo.asp?ID=339&shopcat=toppicks

The price will be in Loonies and shipping is about $20 in Loonies, but I don't know the conversion rate. I do have the Touratech that I got for a $50 discount for joining up with Jonah Street's Riff Raff Dakar 2012 fundraising, but I'm unhappy with the shadows at night.

Cee Bailey's has one similar for about $60.

The headlight cover is Yamaha OEM - not available in the US - try Canada. Thread about it around hear somewhere...

the link is actually to Touratech's $200 solution to "the unsightly void beneath the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere's headlight."
that makes no sense....spend $200 on a plastic cover that does nothing......or $200 on some lights.....decisions, decisions....

A plastic cover that keeps a rock from cracking your headlight assembly isn't "nothing."
I bought a Touratech guard. Lights are next.

I think he's talking about the TT cover that covers the 'void' beneath the headlights. I'd much rather put driving lights in that spot.

+1 on the looks. The only practical advantage I see with the OEM is when people talk about removing the cover when it is coated with bugs, if you've had a long ride already and just want to get home without messing around. Then again, you're exposing the lenses that way.

Ok, am back in the TT camp :D It'll catch the big juicy ones anyhow.

I have the oem Yamaha lens cover, bought from Canada for stupidly expensive. It works well, it's Very easy to clean and I like it better than a rock guard because I can clean it quickly and re-intall it w/o tools. With the pretty darn cool wire guard, you still have to remove it to clean the actual headlight, then re-install. No glare from the yamaha part. Either will protect the insanely expensive headlight assembly from damage. Choose what you like best an go for it.

the touratech one is "quick release" 8) give a good yank and it will pop off..nice for cleaning....not nice those with sticky hands

Either guard is fairly useless by itself, should someone yank it and walk away.

The idea is to carry come cleaning product with you, or just use the gas station window wash squeegee to do the dirty on the headlights or cover. I carry something for my visor anyway, and use that on mirrors, gauges, screen, headlights, turn signals, brake light and the visor when needed. Plexus, it's not just a dessert topping! :D

Yep, I carry a can with me on all my trips. Good stuff! Works great for those clear bras on your cages as well.

I am leaning towards the Cee Baileys, because of cost.

I had the Cee Bailey on my Goldwing and now on the Tenere. I never had a problem on the wing and have not had a problem on the Tenere.

I think it fits the headlight nicely and has good aerodynamics. I don't think you will regret using it.
