Hello Fellow S10ers,

If I understand correctly some aftermarket skid plates do not work with the OEM crash bars. Would any of you good people know what make of crash bar does work with the Yammy crash bars?

Thank you!

Most skid plates will not work because of the bar on the front of the Yamaha crash bars that wraps around the front of the engine can't remember which ones will work if any I just been using the Yamaha skid plate with almost 40 thousand miles it has worked well but if your planning on bashing rocks you might look elsewhere

I would suggest you email the seller or manufacturer of various skid plates you like and ask them. It might be easier. There are a lot of brands out there. It sucks to already have some protection, and find out that the other piece(s) you want don't play well with what you have. That's one reason a system approach is nice. It was designed to work together.

FWIW, people do sell Yamaha stuff and buy all new stuff sometimes too. Just because it came with the bike, doesn't mean it meets your needs. Only you can decide that.

Well, I do not plan on doing more extreme off roaring. Just some easier fire roads, perhaps. Perhaps I will stick with the OEM skid plate for now.

Thanks for the advice!

I am also looking for a skid plate with Alt Rider crash bars. Don't really want anything too heavy duty as I don't plan any off road adventures with this bike. Just something to protect the oil filter from a stray rock when doing gravel. A few close ups of the attachment points of the Yamaha skid plate might be useful in my decision. Thanks...
