LOL, I've ridden all the way west to Nebraska on my S10, and all the way up to Maine, and down into Georgia, and in all those miles, the number of Super Teneres I've seen could be counted on one hand. In fact, I can only specifically remember four; One at Sandhills Yamaha in NC, one on the road in Charlotte, one near the beginning of the Kancamagus Highway, and one at the Gateway Diner in Riverton, WV. That's in three years and 43,000 miles. Those of us that inhabit S10 forums have a sort of confirmation bias; we're always talking to other S10 owners, so we get the impression that there are a lot more of them out there than there probably are. My local Yamaha dealer, before they shut down, said they'd sold a grand total of one since they'd been introduced in 2010 (the dealership closed last year, so that's six years). Mine was only the second one they'd looked at, when I took it in for inspection. I've never seen any model specific sales figures released by Yamaha, but I'll take a wild guess and say that it's not one of their top sellers. Adventure bikes may be the fastest growing segment of motorcycles, but Harleys, Harley clones, and sport bikes still dominate.
