Alright it's winter time, what better time to BS each other about where we come from.
I'll start

I come from where:

A plate of slow cooked beans and onion and some cornbread can be supper.

Men don't worry about their tans

We pull over when a funeral procession goes by until the last car goes by

What about where you come from? Stupid song couldn't get it out of my head

As much as I blab here, and the fact that I've met a big load of you fellas in person, nothing I say is likely news.

Come from a time when lots of kids wasn't frowned on.

Mom was around when you got home from school.

You WALKED everywhere.

Roads were made of dirt.

Church was twice on Sunday & Wednesday night.

TV channel changer was round and the picture was grayscale.

Spankings didn't involve Children's Protective Services. And you could get one at school if you desired it.

Burned our trash in a 55 gallon drum.

John Wayne was the man!
(Steve McQueen too)

Food didn't come in packages. Meals were eaten at the table. And we all took turns washing dishes. I must have been really young, cuz I had to stand on a chair to reach the sink.

WE PLAYED OUTSIDE.

I'll stop now.

That all sounds very familiar.
If you got spanked at school you got spanked at home. Teachers and parents were on the same team.

Church was also 2 on Sunday and Wed nite. Church didn't go anywhere but I did for a while.

The little gas station where I live will pump your gas (female), they have the best hot food and you can pay later. Yep, I live in a backwards world, and I am happy.

Where I'm from now...

Men consider having a screw driver and pair of pliers to be a full set of tools.

Men seem almost proud to announce they know absolutely nothing about mechanical things.

Men are unaware there are plumbing skills beyond the ability to pull up the meta rod to deploy the drain stop.

Electrical skills...don't get me started.

I grew up in pretty much a gang of delinquents. Being 14yr old criminals was the norm, but some of us grew out of it. Not telling tall stories that a lot of my childhood buddys are either in prison or dead. We had a good time back in the day though.
Did you grow up in Denver? I grew up In Douglas County, ever heard of Jason Reynolds? He is my childhood best friend. I chose to go to the Military and I am thankful everyday I went that route.
