Interesting. This weekend if possible I will ride to a place where a big fire took place years ago. Will take pics to go on talking about forest fires.Rode 380 miles mostly gravel and 2 lane to Bastrop State Park on my Super and Harold on his T7. Sorry no pictures.Park is recovering from BIG fire in 2011. Good day.
We attempted that road three different times, the first time it was simply to hot for one of the riders so we had to turn around, the second time we had to turn around because of to much smoke from wild fires, the third time was a few years ago and it was great, one of the best rides I’ve ever been on ! Highly recommend it for anyone that enjoys hilly curvey rides with lots of great scenery ! But watch out for wildlife on the road. This ride has been on my list for 3 years and knocked it out today. White Mountains of eastern Arizona, via Coronado Trail National Scenic Byway, Rt 191, AKA AZ Rt 666 (Devil's Hiway)
Lunch stop popular with bikers. Started to get on the wrong ST when I went to leave. I quickly realized it was too clean.
Lots of fire damage
Morenci Copper mine is the largest in North America. The road runs right through it.

I know that exact condition! I drove thru that way in 2019 and even on my fully loaded T12, I was leaning like a weak blade of grass! If I remember correctly, that wind is blowing there nearly 100% of the time. It’s good to get out early in the season.paradise valley Montana early spring, just riding between snowstorms. The ride home was 35 mph sidewinds and wet snow…fun on A bun!
I have a pic of me in front of one of these mammoth dump trucks that was active at the time from a mine somewhere in AZ when I was there on location for a photo shoot for AT&TThis ride has been on my list for 3 years and knocked it out today. I'm guessing that close to Scottsdale would be the Ray Mine south of Superior, or the Miami mine by Globe.Found the pic!!
I wish I could remember the name of the mine and its location in Arizona. I thought there would be some notes in my travel journal about this job assignment for AT&T that I was on but I
could not find them. I want to say the mine may have been within a few hours drive from Scottsdale? I was permitted to go inside the Dresser cab but not while it was running/moving.
I was amazed how normal sized the cab/cockpit was.
As for my posing in this pic from around '96 kindly give me a pass.... Talk about having a clear head and not a care in world!
I was a young, single guy living in New York City that spent a lot of my downtime in the gym and traveling both nationally and internationally ridiculous amounts of time for free-lance work
for commercial / corporate photography studios and photo production companies.

I wish that I could remember for sure but Scottsdale as the starting point does sound right.I'm guessing that close to Scottsdale would be the Ray Mine south of Superior, or the Miami mine by Globe.

"Necessity is the mother of all invention!"Rode about 50 miles today to pick up granddaughter from school. Used her dad’s truck once there to actually pick her up. Very very windy. Had to improvise when the wind was blowing her hair everywhere.View attachment 90877View attachment 90878
