No one wants to foot the bill for the repairs needed on that road. State says it is the Fed responsibility (National Forrest), Feds say it is the counties, the county says Fed, you get the idea. Ultimately, neither the county, or the Feds want it open, for a number of reasons, biggest other than cost, is the additional rescue problems it will cause.

100% agreed per the workers its constantly having rocks in the road and plus CHP having to patrol and few more miles its not worth it for the state since the flow of traffic is nothing compared to other roads. So makes no sense to open it up when you cant get my revenue from it.

Castle hopping in southern Sweden.
Weekend visit to the province of Skåne where my son reside.
A stunning part of Sweden with major agricultural settings, beech forests and castles (mostly built by the Danes when they ruled this part of the country).

And finally a food stop at a "hot dog cafe" in front of the old church in Simrishamn. What a Day!

What data are you collecting?
I work for a IOT company that uses nothing but LTE signals for device position acquisition. FWIW, cheaper, less POWER, and the device can report its position with the LTE modem. One of the things I am helping with is working with the modem vendors we are partnered with testing the devices. I've been able to find crashdumps and lockups in one of the vendors modems. They are getting close to finishing up their next release of firmware.

Not nearly as fun, had to take the truck, had my laptop and a fairly high precision current/power measurement box for a drive out of the urban environment. Creating a model for power consumption. Too hard to find a poor cell area in the city. And sometimes it is much easier to go for a 4 hour drive in the country than try to set up a test environment. But I am starting to get them convinced, I think, to purchase a desktop RF Anechoic Chamber.

Had to Google IOT. Lost me. lol. That sounds cool though. What is a real world application for using only LTE signals vs. GPS?

Took a great 260 mile ride yesterday with a friend and his 2 uncles. One of them had a badass 1977 Honda CB750 with a Kerker exhaust. I made sure i followed him throughout the day. Nothing better than that exhaust note and the smell of oil. Hahaha.

LTE being terrestrial based penetrates into building and vehicles a lot better than GPS. GPS receivers require a fair bit of power to find the initial fix when cold, so you either need to consume a lot of power each time you want to get a location, are always leave it on so it can keep track of the satellites. And either way IOT devices need to report home, so you need the LTE modem anyway.

So, if you need a LTE modem anyway, why not just it for location. Now, granted, it is not as accurate as GPS, but for the most part, more than close enough. For inventory, companies need to know what building stuff is in, maybe what corner in a big warehouse.

Kinda cool technology, all things equal!

Looks like a couple of my semi round things have to either grow or drop in their sack- like appendage to ride in some of the amazing places you all take your motorcycles.
