Illinois River Backroads. My wife is dealing with Covid courtesy of our grand daughter. So far I've tested negative, so off on a socially distanced ride. Love this area but it is a haul to get there and back. I need to start earlier in the day.

Congratulations, you are a lucky man! Have a great honeymoon.
Thank you.

That sure took a long time so CONGRATULATIONS!

[btw - Your flag is still on the garage wall and the bedroom is still open.]
You shouldn't rush into something as important as a marriage. I find that 25 years probation was reasonable :)
I hope to see you again in the fall next year.

Rode from Crescent city down the coast. Not at all impressed with Eureka Ca.
Started in Ferndale ( neat town) and rode the Mattole road, and camped on the Mattole beach. I have heard of this road and it does not disappoint.
Ha, Eur-tweaka is a sad commentary on how bad the homeless problem can be when local leaders have no clue.
Ferndale has to be the cleanest town in America and I usually ride to the lost coast a couple times a year. Hard to beat the free air conditioning on the Ca coast in the summer.

The summer rains have finally arrived here in the desert of southern Arizona. The smell of wet creosote is a wonderful aroma that we learn to love as the desert breathes a sigh of relief. I took a ride down to the tiny town of Elgin right in the middle of our wine country. Southern Arizona is an ideal climate for growing grapes and there are many small wineries in the area. I stopped at Flying Leap, but I was too early and they had not opened yet. Beautiful and cool in the morning, to ride in Arizona in the summer means you are up at sunrise.FL1.jpgFL2.jpgfl3.jpgfl4.jpg

We finally made it up to the top of Darland Mtn. We left at 6 am and were back home at 10 before the hot air kicked into high gear. It was already 90 at 10am when we got back into town. On the way down we ran into a pucker moment from some freshly dumped gravel rock on the road that took us by surprise for about 200 yards. It was like hitting deep sand. It was hard to see because of the dust on our glasses/shields and going in and out of the dark shade and bright sunlight. Maybe it was the lack of sleep or the stunning views, that I forgot to get the bikes in the pictures.

This is looking towards Mt Adams. There was a lot of haze showing up, with no fires in the area.

Coming from the Mediterranean and a wine country, I have loved this comment. Wine culture is different to beer culture.

Same here

Sorry but what can I do? This is what we have here. Another big wild fire in my area. This time no remarkable natural space was under threat but two towns had to be evacuated. Another outstanding job of the emergency services.

Yeah, with our heat and drought, we're having a bunch of them. Most of them you can tell have started at the road where people are throwing their cigarettes out of their windows.

A harvest machine started this one. The other one was intentionally provoked on purpose. The police is searching the perpetrator and they better catch it before we do because the Inquisition is a babies game compared to what we'll do to that individual.

No plan, just ride. Coming off Covid and just completed rear suspension maintenance. I love it when you just take a random road and find something like this.

On to the country.

Stopped to pickup some dinner. That tailbag came in handy!

I took my S10 in some sand and oh boy is that a challenge. I can't say I didn't like it but I can say that for an inexperienced rider such as myself. Inexperienced in things on off road nature that it. I was overly pathetic at controlling the beast. Turns out 580lbs. in the sand makes for a lot of laying the bike down lol but I quickly learned a lot. After three falls and a fear of being in over my head I managed to get in control of my T1200 enough to flee the situation and come back home to learn a little about sand. I over all had a great time. I didn't get any pics of the sand but I did get some nice pics of the experience IMG_3637.JPGIMG_3637.JPGIMG_3637.JPGIMG_3638.JPGIMG_3639.JPGIMG_3641.JPGIMG_3642.JPGIMG_3645.JPGIMG_3646.JPGIMG_3647.JPGIMG_3648.JPGIMG_3637.JPGIMG_3638.JPG

Wow, y'all are still getting rain; it's so green. We're up to 58, I think, with no rain; 38 days over 100°.
