Hello all, new member and new owner of a 2012 Tenere.
I purchased the OEM side cases last week and when they arrived, there were no locks. The instuctions state locks were provided with the bike. After an exhaustive search I can not seem to locate them, and no they are not under the seat.
The dealer, local rep and regional rep have no idea where they are, or where they should come from.
So, I am turning to the real experts for assistance...
Where are my side case locks? Or more accurately, where were yours?

They come with the bike and are keyed to fit the ignition key.
You need to have a heart to heart discussion with your dealer.

Regards, Paul

I'm having the same issue today. Just got the top case no lock found in the box. The dealer told me there under the seat. I removed the main and then back seat but they are not there. Would they be under the silver cover under the back seat?

The dealer called back as I was posting. They are being told the locks should be taped under the seat. Since mine are not, they are getting a set of locks keyed for my bike. Their assembly instuctions and inventory sheets have no mention of the locks.
I was able to get the bags mounted without the locks, and they are working to fix the problem, I'm happy for now.

Just did the same and my dealer is calling Yamaha Canada about it.
Makes me wounder if I'm not missing anything else? There is no tool kit to be found, does one come with this bike?

The tool kit is under the front right cowling in front of the battery. Not many tools in the kit but it should have a kit nonetheless.

My dealer delivered my bike with the extra lock cylinders and the tool kit. He told me he sold five Super Teneres in 2012 so I guess he knows the drill.

In addition, there should be a hex key on the bottom of the seat for removing the cowling. :)

When they delivered my bike to me they made a point of handing me the clear plastic bag with the Owner's Manual inside, and they pointed out that the locks were in the plastic bag, in case I ever purchased the optional Yamaha hard luggage.

This ^^^

Regardless of whether they're under the seat or stuffed inside the exaust pipe, they should have been (at least at one time) in that plastic bag with the Owner's Manual. Did the owners with this issue receive a manual?

My dealer did the same, and it was the first Tenere he sold, as I ordered it through him. Four Seasons in Rye, AZ for you cactus state boys and girls.

Then they are probably sitting on the workbench where the tech set up your bike. Yamaha has been doing this for years, so it's not a new thing. FJRs also came with three locks, two installed in the bags, (included), and the third for the top case, (optional). If you can't find the locks in what the dealer gave you, under the seat, or in the tool kit area under the right side panel, they forgot to give them to you and should either be able to find them, or should order new ones for you and key them to match your ignition, at their cost.

The locks were in a separate plastic bag than the owners manual and they were under the seat when delivered. Perhaps the setup person misplaced them when he was securing the ABS test plug under the seat with the supplied zip tie, which is part of the setup procedure.

I just wanted leave an update for those of you kind enough to reply.
Locks and keys were sent by "Yamaha" and arrived Monday. They do not match my keys, so the dealer is having them keyed to my bike. They expect them back today and I should be set!!!
As a side note, I got run off the road yesterday (740 miles on the new Ten) and was lucky to hit a muddy hole on the side of the road. I went down on my right side, then the bike flipped and landed on the left. Both cases hit the very soft ground. The mounting bracket on the bottom of the left bag bent slightly, but both held with no damage. Other than a few minor scratches to bike and helmet, we are both fine.
