I've heard this new noise on the last 3 cold starts. Its immediate upon start, ends almost instantly. Whacha think?

General info: 12,500 miles, all services complete per the manual. Clutch switch and aircrew adjustments done at 12K miles. Always run 93 octane fuel.

It's your cam chain tensioner being "slack" for a few seconds before oil pressure pumps it up.

Most don't leak down much when they are new. And many leak down so slowly that if ridden daily, they don't do it. But it's not considered a problem if it behaves as you describe.

My tech told me if it really bothered me, he would change it out for me. But with no guarantee that it wouldn't eventually settle into the same behavior. He did say to let him know if it took more than a couple of seconds though.

Mine is very random if I ride daily. But almost guaranteed to start dry if I let it sit a day or 2.

Mine just got "lazy" about 2 weeks ago around 22k.

The first time I was concerned. Then I knew exactly what it was.

I ride daily.

Mine does it also for about a second or two, got 34.000+ miles on the clock. It does it after sitting for a few hours and I ride almost daily. A minor irritation at the most, not anywhere as as bad as final drive failures. 8)

Mine's only done it once after the bike sat for a couple of weeks (just turned 12K mikes).

I hear flushing the engine with kerosene may help... ;)
