Winter service came to an end today. Flushed the brake and clutch fluid, new engine oil and filter. Put in an K&N airfilter and mounted the Arrow stainless headers. With that I had to fabricate a new stainless bracket to support the worldcrosser skidplate-extension. More inhaling and exhaling meant that the mapping on the ECU wasn’t sufficient anymore. So the ECU went to Carmo Electronics for a flash. Also lowered the fan range with 5*C (95-100 now instead of 105-100) She sounds deeper and is quicker on the throttle when blipping her. No idea how the ride is due to weather circumstances. And the centerstand was sent for a powdercoating due to rust. Also a connector for my CTEK LiFe-Po battery charger was finally put on.
Had fun performing al this work, now waiting for better weather.

Picked the bike up from the garage. Shims and new CCT done , feels great , quieter and smooth. Conti TA3 tyres on as well. Bucketed down with rain for the 15 min ride home. Tyres feel good , new tyres and cold rain ain’t a great recipe but they actually felt very confidence inspiring , bring on some decent weather please !

Mark Davall motorcycles , Harlow ,Essex. I’ve used Mark for all my bike stuff for close to 30 years. The Tenere is really the first bike I’ve done any amount of work to myself , only the easy stuff oils, filters etc but this was beyond me but good for a bunch of miles and trips now.

Thanks Vanny, although I don’t know that dealer, I know Harlow and the surrounding areas reasonably well and am down that way often. I’ll need a valve adjustment soon, will keep them in mind.

He’s not a dealer purely a bike mechanic’s although he was a Yamaha approved dealer for a while but more on small stuff. I would recommend him.

Think I finally fixed my rocking horse. Did the seat mod to get away from the forward crawl snuggy but ended up with a seat that could rock a little, not necessarily when riding but at a standstill I could intentionally rock it or while off the bike it was more significant. So looked at it again today and here is what I did with a pic.

Remove the middle under seat bumper set and throw them away or lose them, cause that is what I did. Move the plastic frame support spacer to High. Here is where the rear seat tongue can sometimes come out of it's slot or there can be movement up and down where it bangs from the bottom berth and hits the top limiting piece. I tried a piece of rubber taped to the tongue and that helped but didn't stop it. In this pic I cut a piece of .060 aluminum that extends about 5/8" past the tongue and fastened it on. This keeps it in the bottom rear slot. It does take a little pressure at the front to catch the latch but it is sturdy now and no movement. Looks crooked and it is a little, can't be perfect all the time:)

Annual inspection, online registration renewal, and a wash & wax. Inspection is down to $7. I'm wondering where they're gonna make the money back up.

I got to a couple of small country places. $10 bux here in La. Give them my license, registration, insurance and money. Don't check anything. I got sticker for a bucket truck for years. It had all kinds of air leaks and oil drips. All they after is the money. In the big cities here. It's enforced pretty seriously. Mississippi hasn't required it n 9 years. My brother ran an inspection station in Baton Rouge for 22 yrs. The cops would stake him out every now and then. They ran an undercover cop through once. My bro checked everything and found one special bulb out. He let him slide and got a friendly warning by the cop.

State added the other amount what an inspection use to cost on your registration . Next year in Texas no safety inspection but some counties still need smog inspection.

That's what I was expecting, but the registration was only $53. And don't get me started on our smog inspections. 254 counties in the state, but only 17 have smog inspections to keep our air clean. Smog must be so smart that it knows to not leave those 17 counties.

Registration is $53???
Registration for mine for the year (includes 3rd party insurance) on the Tenere was $540.
Although, considering the value of the South Pacific Peso, it’s probably not too different.

I removed the rox risers so I could take a drive today since the hose extensions haven't arrived yet for install. Felt good to be back in the saddle. Midwinter and 64f degrees is so nice. I did notice with the risers there is more movement in the handlebars because of the rubber dampers in the top tree. I wonder if that equates to less felt vibration if anyone has noticed the difference.
