Put on new tires. Greased the rear suspension and repaired the muffler. I ride in so much rain and salt all winter everything rusts or gets seized up. I put grease on all my bolts that helps more than anything when working on it. Ok to all the mechanics out there i know that isnt an approved method of fighting carrosion but i have been doing that for over 30 years and never had any issues. Never had a greased bolt seize either. Took a test ride. It feels sooooooo good with new tires and the muffler not leaking and rattling.

If you want to protect the thread of your fasteners and make sure nothing comes loose, use 242 blue loctite. The fastener will not seize and removal will be easy yet vibration will not loosen it.
The problem with your method is "hydraulic", false torque's on the fasteners which can cause fastener breakage and loosening.

Hey All.
I just added more dirt-worthy tires, crash bars and skid plate. The wet bar is next, which will lead to trying out the crash bars. Just kidding.....sort of.
Anybody else have the Outback Motortek crash bars with skid plate? It was all a very tight fitment and seems very robust overall.
So that is what this Oregonian, from a normal part of the state, is doing to his Super Tenere. The .50 cal mounting is next since the bike has no alarm.
That's all folks. Stay safe out there and riding weather is surely coming our way.

Last week the roads were damp, and the brine anti-freeze that was put down for our day of ice, got sprayed all over her. So, since today was 85F, she got a bath. Tomorrow will be 70F, and Wednesday will be 32F with the possibility of more ice.

Put the 2014 with 43,000 miles back together again after putting new steering head bearings in (All Balls) and doing a full fork service (oil, all seals, bushings).
I don't know if it was the notchy bearing, the old oil, the worn bushings (who didn't look worn at all) the dry seals, or everything together, but the front end is transformed. I had definitely felt the fork had gotten harsh and a little shaky at low speeds, and now it feels like a fresh bike again.
Two learnings for me:
a) don't wait that long with your service when things feel off
b) always worth buying the right tools for the job. I ordered the castle nut socket for the steering head nuts from the UK and it took all the guesswork out of properly torqueing the bearing. And I got myself a solid fork seal driver that fortunately also fits my other ride.

Which fork seal driver did you order/use?

Been an eventful weekend for me ! Took delivery of a blue liveried 2014 ES XT1200 Tenere with 11.5k miles on her on Thursday at 8am. Had given her a quick spin on my gravel tracks by 9am. Went for a quick ride on the A86 between Roy Bridge to Laggan then onwards towards the start of Corrieyairack Pass. Unfortunately, the access rules in Scotland prevent riding the pass now. According to a sign there are a couple of very delicate bridges on the route. It could be a very old sign! Have read & digested the owners manual. Played with all new things on a bike for me: heated grips, cruise control & suspension settings. Then went for another ride to Fort William & took a detour up Glen Nevis which wasn't very enjoyable on a sports bike but the dips & crests were really fun on the Tenere. Have bought a second hand SW Motech Luggage racks, paniers & top box. The top box on the bike in the photo is going. Then gave the bike a very good wash as there is a lot of salt on the roads at the moment. Investigating a MRA vario screen. Other than that not a lot! :)
