Put in a new Yuasa YTZ14S Battery (from Amazon) in my '13 last night. She was getting "sketchy" on starting up just recently and my Battery Tender was charging it but "better safe than sorry". Quick 10 minute job with the help of my wife (small fingers).

A very kind friend gave me his unused OEM under-headlight spotlight brackets (he had the top crashbar so didn't need them). I used them to fit some basic LED spots (http://www.alchemyparts.co.uk/super-bright-universal-anodised-machined-aluminium-projector-led-spot-fog-lights-motorbikes-motorcycle-s-trikes-quads-12v-20w/) which I hope will help in the pitch black going around corners. I used a pre-made harness from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00M243BW6). It's turned out to be far too long, but it'll do for now until I get around to making a bespoke one. It's basically bundled up in the tool pocket near the battery in the meantime.

I didn't buy those lights, I swopped them with another friend for the Touratech lockable GPS mount that came with the bike but I'll never use (I use my Android phone instead - far superior) so now I don't have that ugly thing staring me in the face.

I've had a 17k mile service done.

I've had my totally worn out Pilot Road 4s replace with Continental TKC70s. So far so good, and now I can get up wet grassy fields at campsites without sliding around like a dog on lino.

I've also caved in to vanity and bought the 42l Givi Outback topbox to match the panniers I bought when I bought the bike (it came with a Givi 46L plastic box fitted by the previous owner). However, it's not all good looks - it turns out that despite being 4 litres less capacity, I can get more in because of the square shape. Now I need to sell the old one to recoup some of the cost.

I'm out on it tomorrow so I'll post a picture or two.

I changed the final drive and engine oils just for the hell of it today. That's nine months and 2,000mls since it's 6k (12month) dealer service. Also checked the spokes and brake pads. I'm off to the Orkney Islands next week so being a bit anal thought it best to give the bike a 'once over'.

I ordered the PIAA LP530 (77302) light kit from spoiled biker. Now while I wait for it to arrive I'm deciding whether I want to use the included brackets and mount the lights under the headlamp or purchase the Denali brackets that set them just outside the fairing.

Installed Oxford heated grips in anticipation of colder weather. Still high of 90 here in GA tho. I don't like wearing big bulky gloves so I'm looking forward to getting some use out of these. After some deliberation, I decided to mount the controller on the inside of the left handguard.

A reminder for the noobs with Gen2 bikes (not Gen1) wanting to add grip heaters is that you can install the OEM ones for roughly $230 and connection will wake up the controller already installed in your instrument cluster. There are a couple of threads about it.

Finished off my heated grip install by connecting the battery leads to the oem plug (Gen 1). So the grips will only work when the engine is running. I got the required connectors from cycleterminal.com SUPER EASY! and made for a clean install! ::008::

installed a Jardli motorcycle USB charging/ voltmeter, which i got from Amazon. It was supposed to mount on the handlebars, but i have an adversion to mounting anything to the bars. So i used so industrial velcro and mounted it on top of my instrument cluster. woks very well. ::021::

Tried to change a burnt out headlamp by feel (can't see it because of my dash in-fill) and managed to get it in wrong.
It was already clipped in too. Could not get the clip undone. Ended up pulling the dash panel so I could see what I was doing. What a PITA!
