78 quick miles in fog,drizzle and rain on roads covered in gravel/mud and lumps of cow s..t dropped by our Agricultural friends.
Thank God or Yamaha for a great handling bike with excellent road manners whatever the weather/road conditions.
Ave MPG this tank so far 48 indicated probably actually 44. Since purchase average including two up and town/motorway/'B' roads 47 mpg.
2010 S10 19450 miles - 8000 in the last 10 months since I bought her second hand ;)

Refitted the Airflow screen after a trip to a local plumbing hardware store to get some bits as it only came with some bubble wrap & a leaflet in a few languages I don't read.

The screen is now mounted between two large rubber washers & a large nylon washer lifts them away from the accessory bar mount - larger spacers on the top to make the lower section more vertical. It sits ~4mm clear of the diffuser, I need to find some larger retaining washers for the outside.

At 6'2" sitting at the front of a raised seat I could barely hear myself think above 30mph before, wind blast / noise/ buffeting at 70 would have made trips over an hour a real struggle. Took a quick trip around some fast local roads & I couldn't be happier - the ride is super quiet & I can sit comfortably with my visor all the way open at all legal speeds. Below ~50mph the air around my face is totally still.

I can now hear the engine too - so I'm adding a fruitier sounding exhaust to (the bottom of) the farkle list as it's not the most exciting soundtrack!

Everything worked out great! I highly recommend you use a pneumatic brake bleeder to bleed the system. It will make the job so much faster and easier. I also noticed that the Prestone DOT 4 fluid I used is much thinner and clear colored than whatever the stock fluid was. The stock fluid was a dark amber color and seemed a lot thicker and stickier than the new Prestone DOT 4 that went in.

The new seating position is much more comfortable. It no longer feels like I am over extending my arms or having to lean forward to reach the bars. My right hand doesn't go numb anymore either. There is still some slight discomfort in my right hand but I think that has more to do with the pull back of the bars and how thin the stock grips are.

ProTaper Adv Evo high bars and RideOn Adv extended lines. Replaced the bar mount bushing too, old ones got soft after I baked them in the oven powdercoating them... Oops. No floppy BS risers for me...

I installed a set of Mitas E-07 Dakars today. Went on pretty easy with the Harbor Freight changer and Mojolever.
I used a balancer from Harbor Freight, but the bearings were junk.. so I ordered a set of bearings for skate boards to replace the junk ones and it worked pretty good.

A friend came over and we tried to use the HF changer on his DRz 400 wheels, but we could not get them to line up right and just levered them off/on.. with 2 people, it wasn't too hard a job.

While I was at it, I checked out the brake pad thickness. All were still about 4mm thick after 7500 miles.. pretty good I think.



the original tires were not that bad, but I have a trip to Big Bend and New Mexico coming up in April, and this was a good time to swap them out for me with other obligations I have before the trip comes up.

I have a HF changer that I have only used for my dirt bike's tires using levers so far. It looks like the Mojolever works pretty well. Do I also see replacement non scuff type blocks on your changer. Would they be Mojoblocks or something similar?

Ya, I used Mojoblocks on it too. No scuffs at all on the wheels. It worked great.

swapped in LED DRLs since I had a gift card to autozone. woulda been fine if it werent for the damn no see ums.

also lubed the shifter, seems it was lubed at one point from the factory (either that or the REM oil I sprayed on there turned black and gunky). Damn thing was full of shit, I almost thought it had shattered metal from the looks of it. Tossed in some all purpose grease and all is wonderful now!!!

Installed Rox 2" Pivoting Bar Risers. Already had the Extended Clutch and Brake lines installed. Haven't ridden it yet but seems to fit well though I am going to try to get the bars pulled back as much as possible.

Keep an eye on your handlebar feel at highway speeds. During my first major highway trip after installing the Rox risers, my handlebars seemed a little less stable and planted at 70 MPH.

I have 1500 miles on the clock and have not re-torqued my steering head, maybe I will give that a try. I really hope it isn't the risers that are causing this.

After installing the 2" Rox Risers yesterday I rode 220 miles today. Immediately liked the more comfortable seating position and my opinion did not change throughout the day. Freeways, Fast two lane, Urban roads, Twisty backroads,... all were comfortable. Most of the pressure on my hands and wrists are gone. Going to try and pivot the bars back a little more to see if I can gain even more comfort (greedy).

Try a 3.5" rise. AWESOME!...................although it helps if you're over 6'.
