Installed the Alt rider side stand foot enlarger and header guards.

I really like the sidestand foot enlarger. The bike feels much more planted when on the side stand.

The header guards I am not so sure about. They are a pain to get on and scratch the hell out of the pipes in the process. I am also not so sure how much I trust the sharp edges of the sheet steel guards touching the pipes, especially considering the heat and vibration. I really hope they don't rub a hole in the headers! I installed and extra set of hose clamps to hold them and now they don't move. I am still not quite sure I like them though.

How much did the sidestand foot enlarger raise the left side of the Tenere?

With a 1,000 lb. rear spring (set full soft) and nearly new K-60 tires, the stock kick-stand with the Altrider foot does not make a difference. Actually, I am thinking of extending the length of the kickstand about 3/4 of an inch. Anyone know anyone who can do a great job of welding an extension on the kickstand?

I don't think you saw mine. Jaxon did it years ago. I understand he's come up with a cleaner install now.

Not much at all but any help is good. The bike definitely feels more stable when on the side stand though. I don't know what Yamaha was thinking when they made a bike this tall and heavy with such a small side stand foot.

My KLR had much too tall of a side stand and had to be shortened. The S-10 has too short a side stand and could be lengthened 3/4" or so.

I wish someone in the aftermarket would just make a taller, beefier side stand with a much bigger foot. I am sure it would sell quite well.

Congrats on the new kit installed! And white is the best color on the Tenere. ::008:: When you get her in the dirt be careful until you get some better tires for the off road stuff. And above all -- have fun out there! ::012::

Thanks. Yep I'll be careful in the dirt but these street tires don't do too bad on the dirt roads. It's been "baby steps" for me but this forum has helped me learn a lot.

Installed half my side cases. Left one seems to have gotten lost in shipment somewhere.

Sorry Jeff I hate when that happens. Can't believe they didn't ship them together!
I'm not too far from you.
If I see one on the road I'll let you know.

Well I installed a skid plate thanks to tpak I can finally take it off road.

And the dash shelf thanks to BWC to make it look pretty.

Like decorating the Christmas tree. Finally looking like it's ready for an adventure.
Now that's what i call a good looking S10. Must be the color. ::013::

I blame FedEx, tracking shows the set was shipped from the same location in Michigan but the left case looks to be taking a completely different route! BTW, got the whole set brand new for $950 with free shipping. Dealer here wanted $1200 + sales tax. Guess I can't complain.

Tires and brakes.
New pads front and rear (OEM) and fluid flush. The rear pads were about 50% and fronts about 80% at 21,000 miles. The fronts probably didn't need replacing, but I bought the new set before figuring out the comparison. It's OK. I'll skimp on something else, not brakes or tires.

Mitas E07 Dakar to replace the Conti Trail Attack 2. I do the tire mounting myself with the Cycle Hill rig. The stiff sidewall tires like K60 (2 sets previously) and the Mitas Dakar are quite a struggle and I can just barely do it. if I change 6 more sets, I'll amortize the tire changer investment. The satisfaction of doing it myself is priceless.

No report on the Mitas yet as they haven't touched the ground. They look perfect to my eye, much less agricultural than the K60 lugs yet plenty dirt-worthy with enough tread and sidewall to handle 2-up camping trips. I hate burning up knobbies on the highway. Didn't find any mounting/balance marks on the tires, so just stuck 'em on. Only took a 1/2 ounce each wheel to balance them.

Report on the Conti Trail Attack 2:

They were superb for almost 10,000 miles, down to less than 2/32 on the rear. Fronts had more tread, slightly cupping. They only lacked performance on the far ends of the spectrum. The big voids on the edge of the tire caused slip at deep lean angles. That being said, they are the only tires I've ever run out to the edge. You're quickly reminded they're not knobbies when you hit the dirt, but they didn't let me down there either. As 80/20 tires go, I can see why KTM & BMW put these as standard on their big ADV bikes. They're great for everyday riding and decent for everything else. The dual compound tread really works to slow the onset of squaring off.

I'll do the lube and oil change in a couple of weeks then we're ready for our big summer trip way up into Idaho and parts of the IDBDR.

Oil and filter change yesterday. Will do brake fluid and drive oil today or tomorrow. Tires will be mounted next week.

Installed my improved Altrider crash bar ( left side) by Jaxon . The radiator is now protected. Also installed a set of pivot pegs that I bought from Jaxon. Look out Colorado, here I come....
