It was a cool 42 degrees in CT today but that didn't stop me from going for a quick (40 mile) ride. Took a few random detours down some fire roads and even some single track to remind me just how fun and agile this bike is ::015::

Today I replaced the Piaa 1100X's with an Open Trail 7.5" 12 LED combo light. It has 8 fog LED's and 4 driving light LED's, 3240 lumens and draws 36W. The Piaa's were drawing 110w and at 36W, this LED light makes the Piaa's look like a candle.

I had a couple of hours in the garage today and fitted my new World Crosser skid plate extensions and my new clutch & brake levers (titanium finish with gold adjusters) and glued the heated grips on. Tomorrow I'll finish off the grips and wire in my DRL which I'll fit under the headlight.

Installed Denali's Sound Bomb (AKA DDR: Deaf Driver Remover) today. The S10 factory "horn" is embarrassing and a serious safety lapse. Pedestrians are actually looking around to find the clown car making that noise, and drivers simply ignore. If I had any room on the bike I'd put my son's train horns instead.

Good call CaptShaq, a much better horn is on the 'to do' list over the winter.

One other possible suggestion, 2112. I went with the Piaa slim line sports horn for my Super Ten. It is actually in the Yamaha catalogue as a factory option as well. It is quite loud and fits well in place of the stocker.

For the non-Canadians, the PIAA slim line horn is available from non Yamaha sources for $45-50 shipping included.

Neat. Does it use the same wiring as the stock or is it more involved than that?

I rode 55 miles in the rain to my parents farm where my shop is. Installed my new ACD skid plate and changed the oil.

Yes, the PIAA slim is a good choice as well. I had it on my Versys 650 (but still added the air-horn - I actually had both horns connected on that bike at the same time). Here's my philosophy: if I get to the point I need to use the horn, it means I allowed myself to get into a bad situation (note to self: no dessert tonight! ::002::), BUT it also means I need this horn to get the immediate attention of the other driver/pedestrians even if they're sitting behind a closed window listening to a heavy metal concert (actually, especially if that's what they're doing). I was 10 feet away from a driver's closed window as he wildly cut into my lane at full speed - as if I wasn't there. As soon as I hit the horn (while braking as hard as I could, there was no where safe to go, with another car on the lane to my left), he immediately snapped his head towards me and turned his car away. I wasn't kidding about those train horns, if only I could...

Nice suggestion Bruce, I'm liking the idea of that PIAA horn ::008::

Finished off fitting my heated grips today without drama, now to swap seats with Littledave (long story....)

Took her for another ride (my second in three months) and my second in the past two days. Damn it feels good to be back on the bike. Post-ride selfie (couldn't resist)

And yeah, it's nice to be wearing a mesh jacket in January....
