Today I popped some fuel stabiliser in the tank and topped it up with fresh juice. I guess that's probably it 'till next year now due to the weather, upcoming social and work comitments and the like. Ho Hum.

So when you are ready to ride it next year, do you use the gas or discard it?

The whole idea of using fuel stabilizer is to keep the gas in good combustible shape for riding in the spring. I try to go through the stored gas as quickly as possible, but in over 40 years of riding I have never had a problem as a result of using the stored gas for the first few spring rides.

I use seafoam but was always reluctant to use the gas later on. Do you also use seafoam?

As BravoBravo quite rightly states you just use it as normal after the winter, although I do notice a slight dip in performance (although it could just be me after a few months off the bike) from the treated tankful. I also use it the wife's convertible, which obviously doesn't get used much in the North of England... The lawnmower and strimmer also get the treatment and everything starts when required next year. It's amazing how gummed up fuel systems can get when unleaded fuel starts to separate and leaves a 'varnish' behind. Everyone has their own routines but this has worked great for me over the last few years and doesn't cost a lot.

Getting ready for my December/January trip to Namibia.

Added Rumbux bars, Trax pannier brackets, SGS luggage plate and my customary first aid box.

I'll have to check the label next time I have a can in my hand. I do believe they make a claim for stabilized fuel as well. But yes, awesome solvent/system cleaner. They have a penetrating lube now too, all foamy and bubbly when applied, sure to get into all those nasty places.

Seafoam is a well respected fuel system cleaner rather than a stabliser. I used to have a Kia Sorento and the US guy's on the owners site swore by Seafoam and the difference it would make to a high mileage engine. One chap even dyno'd his 2.4 petrol engine which had a fair few miles on and after Seafoam treatment it was about 15% up on power & torque (or back to where it should have been).

Gave up trying to make 1" risers for a 2014. Put the bars back on. Installed side deflectors and a battery tender/heated gear power cable.

Rearranged the garage so I had to make a 12 block ride wearing a hoodie and ball cap in 15 degree weather. Easiest way to turn it around!

Supposed to warm up this weekend!
