Yesterday took out the new bike to see how it did in the dirt. Only 84* here in So Cal. I was impressed even with the stock tires (tourances), although they do need to be replaced with a better tire.
Did about 100 miles, about 40 of them on dirt roads through out the high desert, which due to the lack of rain are more sand then dirt. I did the clutch mod, but found that the throttle was to "snatchy" on the rough stuff that I hit and took if off until I got back onto pavement. It also did well in the curves.
The only problem was the bike decided that it was time to take a "nap" on a dirt section I was doing. The Altrider bars did there job and a little paint on the bars, and when I get a chance, I need to pull them out as they folded in slightly. A case of going down a road at speed, looking at the next road it crossed, and seeing that the one I was on stopped just prior and someone had dug a ditch for water drainage between the two.
At least when I got home still with a big smile on my face, the CFO looked at the bars and said I guess you had some fun today.
