I'd become bored of waiting for my ACD sump guard to arrive, so I thought I'd have a go at doing something about that big gap under the headlights. I had considered putting some extra lights in there or to even go for a beak. However, given that in January, there is far too much month at the end of the money, i'd try something that cost me only time and effort. I had some 3mm aluminium panelling and an odd piece of expanded alloy mesh laying at the back of the shed and said to myself, " I'm no fabricator but there's no harm in having a try……...……." So armed with a hacksaw, assorted files, my trusty Black and Decker drill, and a half empty satin black rattle can, I made this:

Fills in the blank and matches the bike well. If anyone asks, its only available with the competition white. :-\ And the ACD sump guard is worth the wait.

Tenere Biker Gang. Nice.
Good day for a ride. Impromptu meeting of Tenere's at Rider's Hill followed by a brisk ride thru the N Ga mountains.

I bounced it off a few rocks and tested out my newly installed crash bars and skid plate. Skid plate bent a bit but will probably straighten up ok. Crash bars scratched but stayed straight. Trax bag did a decent job of holding up except for a good ding. A few scratched here and there that crept between the protection. Small ding on the shin. Picked it up and rode another 100 miles.

I've decided the S10 will be the worker bee and the FJR will be the pretty one.

That's how it starts. Then it progresses to the FJR staying on a battery tender.

Be careful. :)

I did some de-stickering and matt black painting. Bear in mind that our Aussie models come with silver side panels, not black. I got the inspiration from the US model.

I rode over to the IMS in Phoenix (technically, Glendale) yesterday. But before I got there, I came upon an accident scene on west Loop 101 with dogs running loose on the freeway. I stopped to render aid (tried to catch the dogs) and used my hazards. When I went to leave the scene the bike wouldn't start, so one of the officers on scene helped me push start it. I think it was the dreaded hard start, as I only rode 10 more minutes up the road to the show, and it started fine when I went to leave a couple hours later...either way, she is sitting for the next three weeks while I'm traveling for work...

Busy weekend in the Man Cave.

Installed a Rigid Industries SR-Series 6" lightbar - Driving Lights pattern, with a Skene Designs Intelligent Controller. Have it set to run 10% power on low-beam and 100% power on high-beam. And yes, these things are super bright, guess that's why they're designated off-road only. I used both pairs of the supplied brackets, some longer bolts and spacers, but no trimming, to lower the light enough to be able to angle it down sufficiently.

Replaced my old Heidenau rear K60 with a new one. 14,000 miles with 4mm tread depth remaining. The new tire has 12mm tread depth. I used a Cycle Hill tire changer. Getting the old one off wasn't bad but getting the new one on was a mighty struggle. These tires are just damned tough...which is why I like to run them. Even after warming them in the sun and with plenty of lube and leverage, I still needed an assist from my wife to get the last half on the rim. A few spins on the static balancer and no weight needed to be added. I found 2 little orange dots and aligned those to the valve stem.

I too had a set of K60's installed and a Galfer nine line steel braided brake and clutch line kit. Too bad it was 15 degrees when I picked it up!

I fitted a Pyramid infill panel in satin black plastic to the right side of the bike, looks good and will prevent water and crap spraying up on my leg, the 2 supplied bolts are not as nice as the oem bolts.
