See, that is exactly the problem. They use these crazy big SAT words on the sign and I just get confused.

Excuse the iPhone garage pics...still kind of a work in progress. Looking at enlarging the plastic piece over the rear brake reservoir. Got the ideas from a thread here somewhere...couldn't see paying ~$150 to accomplish the same thing.

Ran into a local group of mostly sport bike riders while I was gassing up on Monday. One of the riders was somebody I know who works at the local Air Force base. They asked if me if I wanted to ride with them in the mountains. I figured why not, and that sporting the OEM side and top cases should make things even more interesting. After adding my bike to the fray, we had an eclectic mix of two Duc 1098's, a Duc 848, a ZX14, a Hayabusa, an XJ400, CBR250RR, and my Tenere.

Surprisingly, my 600 pound bike with full compliment of luggage hung with them really well in the mountains. There were some sections with sweepers where I'm sure the Duc's were taking it easy for the groups sake, but all and all I was impressed yet again with this bike. The 848 rider I was following for most of the ride asked me if I wanted to go ahead of him because he thought he was moving too slow for me, haha! Even though I changed bikes, I still have sport-bike rider's blood flowing through my veins. The Japanese riders preferred to move at faster clip than the Americans in our group, so I forged ahead with them through our second set of tight twisties. Again, the Tenere aquitted itself very well (loomed large in their mirrors). I had some side knobs to wear down on the K-60's before I change them out, so this worked out well. ::013:: We hit a rest stop prior to the return trip and everyone kept looking at my tires and asking me how much the bike weighed while shaking their heads in disbelief, haha! I think one of my saving graces in being able to hang with the Duc's is because the Japanese fella on the ZK14 insisted upon being the lead bike. He musta been the Alfa of the group because they all fell in behind him and obeyed his every command.

Anyhow, I had a blast. That ride confirmed once again that I chose the right bike.

I gave my Super Ten its first oil and filter change under my care. Dealer said they changed the oil before I purchased, but now I have a baseline for my maintenance. I then spent the better part of 90 minutes chasing the oil level (which I was prepared for, having read various threads on this forum). Ended up taking almost 4 qts, but level is smack in the middle of the sight glass after warming engine up and letting it set for 10-15 minutes. Did it again this morning to confirm).

Took delivery of an SW Motech skidplate, and am awaiting the SW Motech crash bars which should arrive today. My first farkle was a Hepco & Becker (Wunderlich) windscreen bracket, which I installed last week.

Will install the plate and bars once I clean the bike following last weekends rainy ride. No use installing things over a dirty machine.

Well how did the medium work out I was thinking of getting a large, I have one on my FZ6 and really works well.
I have nothing to compare it to except the stock w/shield. It works better than oem for me. I will note it came out the box w/a couple scratches, one was fairly deep and the edges are not finished at all. But felt wind buffeting was noticeably better. I moved it to the lowest position and now have better view. In the high position, the top was just under my line of sight so lowering it made it better. I'm 6'0 and 34" inseam.

Installed the Rox 2" pivoting, vibration damping risers with stock brake/clutch lines using the optional install kit from ADVRIDER.COM. BIG difference in felt vibration and much more comfortable position.

Finally finished installing the upper Altrider bars from Jaxon in conjunction with the lower OEM crash bars and the ALT Rider skid plate. ALL the OEM crash bar parts were kept in use including the lower crossbar and the "up and over" light bar. the upper Alt rider bars use the same mounting holes as the oem lowers so just a bit longer bolts and few minor hole enlargements a minor "cut "out of the skid plate and a pry bar were used. A few choice vocabulary words, a lot of patience and a beverage of choice were required. Hope the pics come out clear enough. Ride on!!
Nice!! Now you've got a place to mount some highway pegs on that oem engine guard! My plan exactly.

Installed the winter-time National Cycle 24" windshield, some ighway pegs, and mounted an airhorn to replace the whimpy OE horn. Ready for cold weather now.

Considering that screen for winter as well - would like to know your thoughts on its performance.

It was very windy the day I put it on, 25-30 mph steady winds with gusts to 40, I rode just over 100 miles. It was easy to feel the difference it made in riding temp and wind noise. The downside to such a large windshield is the leverage that is applied at the top of the shield. It for sure moved the bike around more and made it work a little more but, it's what I expected. I don't have anything to compare to other than the stock windshield and Yamaha acc large windshield. Since I ride until the gravel road to my houses freezes this will do the job of keeping the air off my torso and head in fine fashion. I have a TT adjustable windshield mount and I have yet to play with angle adjustments.

I rode mine down the BRP today. Started at the entrance to Skyline Drive and rode the BRP to route 60 to home. The ECUUnleashed worked flawlessly.

I left Sarasota and took a hairy ride on I-275 through St Pete to a dealer who spooned on a set of Metzeler Tourance tires (for free!).
Hopefully, these last longer than the Tourance EXP's that came on the bike.
While there, I added a nice Tourmaster tank bag then stopped off at Cycle Gear on the way home and took advantage of a nice sale to grab two
pairs of much needed gloves. Very tired after that trip.

If that wasn't enough, I had an awesome filet and a fantastic cheese cake ( ::013::) at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse this evening with the family.

Not a bad day!

Christmas came early this year...again.
-Long awaited TT ss crash bars
- oem headlight protection
- abs sensor protections
- rear break fluid protection
- enlarged break pedal
...
Last, but not the least...

Little gem.. OTR shift lever

Oh yeah... New set of knobbies for today's adventure.

Does the rear brake fluid protection keep muck and grunge fromt getting up behind the reservoir? Ive noticed that to be a problem on my Super Ten. Have seen the Hepco a& Becker version, which is a plate that mounts back there and looks like it would definitely fix that issue.

Also interested in how you like the headlight protector. I haven't seen the OEM version....am weighing that style vs. the 'grill' type that other manufacturers are offering.
