Be careful topping off the brake fluid, it is a hydraulic system, only time it should need more would be a leak or change. The fluid level dropping indicates pad wear. When you replace the pads there will be too much fluid and it will have to be removed.

Good point. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. ::008::

Finally got Fancy properly dressed again.

After FUBAR'ing my Rumbux lowers and skid well over a month ago, I have been riding with nothing to protect Fancy's engine. She looked so naked and exposed that way. I was only willing to ride on the pavement till I got some sort of protection back on and that really sucked!

Well... yesterday the long wait ended! My new HD Rumbux lowers and slid plate arrived from Eric V yesterday afternoon. It all bolted on seamlessly with my existing uppers and now I am eager to go out and get it broken in and dirty once these epic rains leave the area.

Did you order two this time so you don't need to wait the next time you need one?

Tried a couple of screen extenders .....A mate of mine has changed bikes and offered to sell me either.......
BTW for comparison 5'9" tall, 30" inseam... standard screen up half way.

I get wind in my face with the visor open ( Schuberth C3 flip) to the point where at 50-60moh it has to be down with the standard screen

First one, Wunderlich adjustable...... this goes up and down, and the angle can be varied... worked pretty well... visor up at 100mph ( i'd guess ::26::) just a low down hum from the wind, and the wind seems to be hitting the top of the helmet....
Only thing against this one is that it's in my view how I had it adjusted, and there is a lot of metalwork.......

Second one is a Puig... slightly smaller, and I think suits the bike better... again visor up at silly speeds, no buffeting, and just a low hum from the wind when cruising at 80-85 mph

Feeling old here cause I did 330 miles on Sunday and it kicked my butt.
But it was up the 395 thru Kennedy Meadows to Kernville and back home.
Kinda new at the map stuff but this was the trip.

I enjoy that area also. What I like to do is take the Caliente-Bodfish (483) off the 58. And at the top instead of Kennedy Meadows, take Mountain Hwy 99 (M-50) through California Hot Springs. Great curves, just need to watch out for the cows. Either way, great area to ride.

I tried that same set up with the Wunderlich item. It worked well BUT it was too heavy and, with vibrations etc., the two screen locking nuts kept loosening and leading to screen collapse whilst on the move. Solved the problem with a Puig touring screen. Really nice piece of kit. ::008::

Thanks Mark. Made me think https://goo.gl/maps/ede1Eej4TBN2 or https://goo.gl/maps/QaAxXQQabXw . Caliente Creek Rd is slower though very beautiful. My routes are different than the SoCal'rs. Mine begin and end with a motel or campground.

Installed a new Altrider black skid plate and the Givi 58L outback top case. Finally have BIG RED setup for some riding.

I've used loctite on the Puig grub screws....I think you're right at the Wunderlich is too heavy... the Puig doesn't vibrate half as much :lamp:

I did the ride on Wednesday but did get to my paperwork for an IronButt certification today:

Did I read once that they have a different title for a 1000 done all inside one state? Or was receipt four in Idaho... What a cool loop. How many hours did it take ya?

I left home at 4 AM and was back by 10:30 PM. I don't the title for the ride is any different. These days it's called a SaddleSore 1000. You can do a BunBurner 1500 which must be completed in 36 hours.
