I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere on the forum, but what size security torx bit -- the one with the hole in the center of 6-point star -- do I need for the large bolts with the side case mounting brackets? Is it a T-50?

Took a bolt to Sears and Home Depot, had no luck in finding one. Got a suggestion for a source?

Thanks much for your help.

It's a T-50 security torx bit, but you can take a punch and knock out the center tit from the sides and use a regular T-50 torx if you don't care about using a security bolt.

I don't.

With stock boxes on they can't get to it and without them who is going to take the stock mounts without taking the bike first. :)

When I got my bike secondhand it had the Yamaha pannier set on. I was unimpressed. With only 24 hours to a long trip I wanted to fit the GIVI setup but was faced with the aforesaid Torx security bolts holding the Yam Frame on. I tried unsuccessfully to get the correct Torx bit. I also tried unsuccessfully to knock out the centre pin to increase my chances of finding a bit. I ended up grinding the heads off the bolts to release the Yam frames. Why on earth do they think they need security bolts in this location? I can't think of another manufacturer or supplier who reckons that is necessary. OK, I'm all set up with the GIVI kit but I may want to refit the Yam boxes at some time. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find replacement 10mm replacement bolts with that damned 1.25mm pitch fine thread. I can't find a part number either for the Yamaha originals to order them. Anybody help?
Now I see that the same security bolts are used to to secure the rear sub frame. WHY???? Do they expect someone to steal the sub-frame? AARGHHHH!

I think the part number is 90111-10054-00 for the stock bolt.
Item #32 on seat assembly.

Thanks for the try but that is the standard bolt for the grab rail not the longer bolt for the pannier mounting bracket.

That is what I did. I did not want to be bothered down the road by this stupid torx bit which I didn't plan on packing one in my tool pouch.
