Years ago I bought a used FJR and it came with a "tractor seat"... whaaaa!!! I kind of liked it for a while until I rode in a big rain. Then I changed the name to Rain Bucket! Yes what I found was that when it rained it collected rain and then I was just sitting IN water. Sorry I'm not a fan either.
Just remember YMMV!
:D You're supposed to keep your butt on the seat. Never seen a seat collect water while the bike was being ridden... Between the riders rear and the jacket, Oh wait, you're not one of those fashion guys still using short jackets are you? ;)

Touche'!

I knew I could count on you to defend the defamatory remarks towards the Throne of all seats!

Hilarious. Basically you said "Sit on it!"

Glad we can have some fun with this thead too. ::008:: I wore a Darien for a decade or so, now a Klim Lattitude, so yeah, I guess we're fashionable. :D But I was more referring to those quirky Roadcrafter guys and other non 3/4 length jackets.

I admit, I have a sunfast covered seat. The only time my tractor seat collects water is if I forget to cover the bike and park it outside in the rain. The FJR's vinyl RDL never collected any water when I rode that bike. They will be a bowl of water if parked outside in the rain, that is for sure. Just never heard that complaint for while people are riding them. Have heard the wet crotch complaint from Stich onesy wearers. But that's about the old style zippers mostly.

I have a Laam seat that I'm happy with for the price. I suspect I will break down and get an RDL at some point. When I needed my seat a couple years ago an RDL build date was not available on my timeline.

Honestly think this is the best stock seat I have had on a bike. Foam remains firm and, after leveling it out, I find I can ride all day on it. Even with aftermarket seats, I have found I get uncomfortable after 500 or so miles and this one is no different. Up to that, I really don't have a complaint.

I have a Seat Concepts Low, which I use if I need to get both feet flat on ground while hitting dirt roads. The Seat Concepts Low is not that comfortable past a few hours of riding(for me) however, I stand up a lot when I'm using this seat. I got a sweet deal on a front and rear Russell Day Long seats last year which are what I use most of the time. I love the fact that I never feel the need to stop and give my back side a rest. The way the nose of the seat is shaped I can slide forward at stops to get a foot down and sit back in the seat once I've taken off again. I'm 5' 9", 31" inseam. I leave the RDL in the low position.

FYI

I returned the Sargent seat (within the 30 day return period) and got the funds put back on my Credit Card.

As I spoke with various people at Sargent just wanted to say thanks for your help and if you ever want to work on a redesign on the seat I am a short few hour I95 ride to your location.

Seth Laam . Had it adjusted a couple months later. Stopping in at Seth Laam's shop is a god thing for your seat... plus you get to ride that area. I can ride for days in that area.

When I bought my used '14 it had the Touratech seat on it. I rode it around for a weekend trip then switched it out for the stock seat. The stocker seems a tad slimmer and a bit more cushy. Probably a better seat for commuting and day trips. The Touratech however is a little wider and firmer. How would this be better for a week long trip?

Has anyone every done a ride-in appointment w/ Terry's Custom Seats in TN to have their seat redone? I'm going to be out that direction (sort of) in a couple of months and would like to get the seat done while in the area.
VRODE, nice looking seat!

Made a modification to my seat, better but not acceptable.
Terry did my V-Strom seat....huge improvement!! Don't have a clue on the ride-in thing.
Contacted Debi (Terry's Custom Seats) about Tenere seat....pay in full upfront, and then 2-3 weeks with no seat (he has no Tenere cores)
I have another 1in thick insert ordered that is foam and gel, hopeful that it is going to be great.
Did about 280mi today, still need a better seat.

Don't know why I re-visit this thread when it receives new content. Probably just a forum-junkie issue.
But I'm not likely to ever change my seat if I haven't by now. The reason that is a bit odd, even to me, is my PDP 2012 Tenere is the one bike that has experienced a serious Farkle-Free-Fall at one point, resulting in what one of my West Coast Forum buddies describes as "pimped out".

In my defense, it was an emotional moment in life where the normal boundaries for making economic decisions were askew. LOL
Fortunately, I chose to do it to a great bike, one that I would keep, thus avoiding a serious remorseful sale in the future.

Anyways, with all that crazy "build me an S10-GSA RTW Beast" farkling, the OEM seat never got addressed.
This morning I rode it into work because there is a chance for rain. (My other bikes lack TC and ABS) Because of this thread, I paid particular attention to how the seat felt.
Honestly, it might be the best seat I have on all my bikes. Maybe it takes 10, 20, 30, 40.....thousand miles to break in? :)

Ok, to be fair, I am likely advantaged by a spinal chord injury that leaves me less sensitive than everyone else. So take that into account.
