What handlebar?

I would like to put a new aluminium handlebar as I have a little bent the OEM.
Do you know if there is a model that has a similar geometry to the standard? I like it.
My priority is that it must be as strong as possible, better if it has a central bar reinforcement.

Thanks!

i think you will be hard pressed to find the original bend.
i went with some renthal bars, lower bend, and less downward sweep.
did you check out flexx handlebars?

You're welcome to mine. I replaced my stock bars with the Fasst Flexx bars, and the originals are sitting in a box in my garage.
I dont know what shipping would be to your area from Oceanside, Ca. 92056, but I'll send 'em out if you cover shipping.

I second the motion that it would NOT be likely that an aftermarket set of bars would match the geometry of the oem bars.

I say that because of that bar-spreadsheet that some fine gent put together for us. I remember when sorting those records by certain fields, the OEM bars were the FIRST (or last) record in the list. In other words, they were on one end of the spectrum.

If I remember correctly they are amongst the widest bars available. (Ok with me)
And also had the steepest sweep angle. (Not ok with me)

Since now I weren’t fancy about handlebars. Is something that I have not yet given much importance as I adapt quite well to their shape. The only thing that I really mattered was that they were resistant to falls.
I have some levers that allows me to easily move the handlebars depending on if I ride on road (sitting) or off road (standing up) and the OEM shape with the closed ends
suits me quite well (or so I thought until now). But reading the post about the ST handlebars start to make me have doubts about whether a more open and flat off road handlebar could do better for me, especially because my long trips are more off road than highway.
What I really know is I don’t like high handlebars.

In the previous post I have not put the link to the thread on handlebars that made me think about it: http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=5113.msg91926#msg91926

After reading it I think I'm going to put a off road handlebar (low and flat) with some Roxx Risers to allow me to different settings. The main problem is to find a bar that has at least 245mm control plane.

Regarding the Flexx bars, I’m not sure about them. I think they are to complex and expensive. Also I got the impression that may be more fragile.

Jaime,

The Pro Taper Contour in ATV bends has enough space to fit the full stock control setup.

I bought the Tusk Chub ATV high because I read over and over that the ATV bars had enough space for the stock controls, but these didn't. It was very close but the clutch lever dd not pull in entirely straight and it made me nuts so I put the stockers back on after removing 5/8" on each side and moving them up and back a little. It made them almost perfect for me so I have left it that way. I still do (I think) want a little less sweep though, so the Pro Tapers will work for sure?

They worked for me.

You can see I have the full complement of stock controls.

Lots of guys running the Pro Taper Raptor bend.

In fact, Jaime, if you are looking for the closest sweep to stock bars I believe the Pro Taper Raptor ATV bend have the most sweep of any aftermarket bar.

Thanks ac

The Raptor looks too high. I think the Contour is fine, my doubt is about height. I must measure the OEM because in some posts I've read the high is 82 but in other said 106 and I don't want it higher. These are the measurements:

OEM:
Sweep: 146
High: 106 (82??)
Width: 820
Control plane: 247

Pro Taper Contour ATV Low:
Sweep: 60
High: 95
Width: 813
Control plane: 200

Pro Taper Contour ATV Mid:
Sweep: 56
High: 108
Width: 813
Control plane: 200

So, depending the OEM height I’m going to decide between the low or mid. The big question is where I’m going to place the clutch switch, I don’t think it fits in the 200mm control plane, 47mm less than stock.

Jaime,

I can tell you from experience that ATV Low mounted in 2" pivoting Rox Risers FEELS lower than stock.

I would like to try without risers, so I'm going to try the Medium

Thanks!
Let me know how that works out. I want to be a bit higher I think so I might order up some Mids.

Regarding the Pro Taper web, in the ATV Contour the control area is only 200mm but in the OEM is 240. If this is correct, it surprise me thay it fits all the control setup.
Do you mind to give me this measurement.

Many thanks!!

I had the same concern with my Pro Taper Contour Raptor handlebar. It is crowded but all the controls fit.

Ok, you convince me... I'm going to try.. ::008::

Hey tomatocity, the Raptor isn't it too high?
According I read, the high stock is 106 but the Raptor 143..
