western US Spring ride-tent camping tips

Heading ot on a ride next April- Mid June. Weather dependant tenere will be in back of truck or AMHS ferry from Yukon. Eiahter way know Yukona nd BC like back of hand but looking for some advice on tent camping spots and favorite rides Oregon, California and AZ. The ony solid plan so far is May 2nd supercross in Vegas, visit some family in Scottsdale, ride the 2/3 loop around grand canyon.

Otherwise open to tips, will tent camp as much as possible. I have done a fair bit of touring on my bike and here in northern Canada keeping food/drinks cool not a big deal. I have large micatech panniers and thinking about mounting a top case and insulating it with spray foam as a cooler or again open to ideas on keeping 1-2 days of food/bevies cool.

Go to Pashnit.com for all the best roads in California. Seriously you could spend weeks on that site. Get the roads dialed in and then find the campsites to suit.

North coast of California. Trinidad as a base, nice little campground there an lots of roads in the immediate vicinity.

Highway 36 Red Bluff to Fortuna. Legendary road, lots of camping along the road, some right next to the river
Fortuna out to the coast and back to 101 on Lost Coast road. An epic ride. Lots of camping along 101 in the redwoods.

As your plans/dates firm up be sure and post them, you will find more than a few of us that are willing to come along and show you some special roads and views and provide some cold beverages.

I did a trip to Prudhoe in June of 2012 and saw some great roads. Besides the classic Dalton ride, my absolute favorite was the Top of the World from Tok to Dawson City. BC, Yukon and Alaska was great riding. Some truly fun riding up your way
