They are not going to ship them back to the west coast. Didn't you read the part about everybody having to drive to Chicago to pick them up?

No, I must have missed that one..... :))

I've nearly done that before. I drove from Virginia to Michigan to pickup my FJR. Turned around and put it up for sale three weeks later. Chicago isn't that much further.

Fortunately after having four test rides I know the S10 is a keeper. No wasted gas for that pickup.

Mfriday,

Me & 495 of my best friends were in Johnson City the end of June for our club's national rally. That is a very nice area you live in!

That's what I was told today by the Yamaha rep at the demo ride in Gettysburg.
My experience with Yamaha reps at demo rides is that they are clueless about the latest happenings. Only reason anyone shouldn't have their bike by August 31 is that they haven't picked it up.

I don't think Wreckchecler is a membor here.... Picked this post up from him over on ADVrider:

"From somebody in Yam district management

Getting back to the subject, I was able to talk to a District Manager today and according to him:

The demo bikes for at least his district are now all US production. This is a big step.

The delivery bikes are now in the pipeline, but this could mean they are simply outside of the factory and in the process of getting to ships. Or floating toward the US coast. Canadian bikes are different and come into a different port, so will be on different ships. The point was that US Yamaha Motors is actually a separate company from manufacturing in Japan ( and the dealers) and has not gotten more than the demo bikes so far.

District management has not been given a start date for deliveries, but has been assured that all U.S. PDP orders will be filled by end of August. Because of the logistics of getting bikes across the country, and because PDP orders opened everywhere on the same day, it may work out that western bikes arrive earlier, but it shouldn't be by much.

Deliveries will not be held till all of the dealers have bikes and can start to deliver on some common date. Having gone through this before and knowing what he does, he related that the bikes come in through California, and will be sent to dealers as they come in and get batched to send out to fill dealer orders, which goes across model lines. Dealers will be expected to deliver theirs in PDP order.

BUT - color also weighs in, since they won't deliver a blue bike to a PDP buyer with an order for a black one. And because the blue version massively outsold the blacks. So, his example was that if a dealer gets 3 bikes for example and the ratio is bigger than 3:1 (he wouldn't give a real ratio), then the percentage of black deliveries will lead those of the blue bikes. Again, he was saying this partly on experience and partly on numbers that he wouldn't share. But his point was that order dates may not be exactly relate to delivery sequence."

Hmmmmm?

:)

Thanks ColoRider, I'm here too.

I actually did try posting here first (bike specific site), but for some reason can't post to this forum with an ipad. I can surf this site and the site is recognizing me, using my avatar, etc, but the glass keyboard doesn't respond.

And you somehow didn't copy this part of my post:

As a humorous side note, I TOLD you that the black ones would be faster!

Saw the same post and makes sense to me. I have been on vacation the past week and trying not to think too much on the dates (but checking here just in case) :D

I am sure when work and life get back to normal next week I will start getting antsy and marking dates on the calendar. Be nice to get mine delivered in time to get a proper break-in to head to the Indy MotoGP in proper fashion.

Checkswrects, - I had issues with my IPAD until I upgraded the software on it. Most issues went away afterwords.
